Broken site - gobbledygook

Having downloaded a new template on my PC, I extracted it from it's ZIP file into an appropriate directory. I copied the contents of that directory into my site structure and then uploaded the whole includes directory to my server.

Now, my pages are preceeded with a whole host of junk, as per my previous post http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=191745 example here: http://www.tenancyservices.snorkerz.com/cart/

In that case it was suggested that the problem lay with my having edited files with the wrong editor. No files have been edited - but I have tried all 3 upload versions on Filezilla - AUTO / ASCII & BINARY.

On the earlier thresd, it was suggested I search for the junk using developer toolkit - have done that with results like No matching Configuration Keys were found ... 2312ibm037ibm038ibm1004ibm1026ibm1047ibm1124ibm1129ibm1132ibm1133ibm1160ibm1161ibm1162ibm1163ibm1164ibm256ibm273

Any ideas? Do I have to start with a fresh upload of zencart?
Please say no :)

Re: Broken site - gobbledygook

What happens if you switch back to the classic template?

The best way to learn is to try stuff. But, back it up first.

Re: Broken site - gobbledygook

There are five copies of a large block of text at the very top of all pages (I assume -- I only checked two) of your site. So what file creates the top of any page on a ZC site? I think it's includes/templates/template_default/common/html_header.html. If I were me I'd check that file (or a copy of it in your custom template folder.)

If you have a copy of all the files for your site on your local PC, and if you have a text editor which can do multi-file searches, try searching for some chunk of that garbage text to see if you can locate the file it's in locally, and then get a fresh copy of that file.

And if you can't find it in any file which ZC uses, then I'm afraid you may need to think about the dreaded H word -- hacked. But see if you can find the file that is loading that text first.

Re: Broken site - gobbledygook

I notice there are lots of reference to IBM in the blocks of text. It also includes the word "videotex" which is an ancient IBM product.

Would an upload or editing method create that? Or could it be something to do with the server?

Have searched my local copy for the text (well part of it) without success.

The site is not commercial/live yet so no reason for hacking (well, I know that doesn't mean it hasn't been hacked) so I'm not too worried there.

This same error happened before, and was fixed - I am hoping you guys (and girls?) can work the same miracle again.

EDIT: If it is relevant, the text loads even before the <HEAD> tag.

Re: Broken site - gobbledygook

Just an update - problem solved by my host who discovered that rstevenson was right - the text was in 5 files that I had deleted from the server in the previous problem but accidentally re-instated from my PC.

Offending files now deleted from PC so they can't be re-reinstated!

Thanks for everyones time - sorry for wasting it.
