Error in DB upgrade

Immediately after clicking upgrade DB getting this:

1101 BLOB/TEXT column 'gzpost' can't have a default value
in:
[ALTER TABLE admin_activity_log ADD COLUMN gzpost mediumblob NOT NULL default '';]

It leaves site in down for maintenance mode.

My install: was Vanilla 1.3.9h, now 1.5.5b, Apache 2.4, PHP 7.0.6, MySQL 5.5.8 64b, Windows 7 64b, 8GB RAM, i3 3.3gHz
Modules: [Payment=Paypal] [Shipping=Canada Post 1.5.3 merged] [nonCAPTCHA]

MySQL version?
Is this a Windows server or a Linux server?

The ZenCart is being installed onto a Fedora 14 machine with Apache/PHP.
DB server is Windows 7 64bit with MySQL 5.5.8 (64bit too).

Re: Error in DB upgrade

Seems to be something amuck with Windows implementation of MySQL that's causing confusion for various users.

Change the DB schema in your /zc_install/sql/mysql_upgrade_zencart_139_to_150.sql file and remove the "DEFAULT '' " part from the line that's throwing the error.

I see. Thank you for looking into this so promptly! I'll stay on 1.3.9 until something stable comes up, as I have no resources for this kind of troubleshooting (this business only accepts money orders, so more security of 1.5 is not a burning issue).
