WARNING error during checkout attached to Free Shipping

I have recently upgraded from 1.3.8a to 1.3.9h and I am sorting out a few bugs, most of which I now have under control...but this one is confusing me...during checkout with a free shipping module, the following error displays

WARNING: Could not locate language file: includes/languages/english/modules/order_total/ot_insurance.php

I have not used an insurance module before and the error message is correct in there isnt an ot_insurance.php language file...do I need it to make this error go away or is there a way for zc to recognise that it is not required?

It sounds like you have the file:
/includes/modules/order_total/ot_insurance.php

but you do not have the associated language file:
/includes/languages/english/modules/order_total/ot_insurance.php

if you do not want to use the insurance, then you should delete the file:
/includes/modules/order_total/ot_insurance.php

If you do want the insurance module, then you need to load the language file:
/includes/languages/english/modules/order_total/ot_insurance.php

to the server ...

Well, as I was typing out the question, I had an idea...what would happen if I simply went to /includes/languages/english/modules/order_total and simply make a blank file that was titled ot_insurance.php?

So I tried...

And now Im not getting the error message...

Is this the "fix" or are there repercussions to doing this that I am not aware of?

Thanks Ajeh, I have just checked to see if I do in fact have the /includes/modules/order_total/ot_insurance.php - but I don't... :frusty:

It could be in your database for this Order Total module and was never properly deleted ...

If you go to the Modules ... Order Totals ... do you see Insurance ot_insurance in there?

Otherwise, you would need to clean up the database table for the configuration to get rid of this properly ...

Good question. The /languages/ files generally only contain 'define' statements, which are used to output the relevant text in any given language. In this case, English.

The lack of these defines won't cause any operational issues, but if you see any output in all capitals, such as 'INSURANCE_FEE' (or similar) it means that the 'define' statement is missing, and should be added.

If you have neither of the aforementioned files then you won't be getting the same error.

Please describe the actual error that you are getting and we may be able to help.
