Why would everything not work suddenly?

I finally hired a company to do the things to my site that I obviously couldn't learn from any of the tutorials. They got the basics done for me and was getting orders and everything was working fine. I know I can never upgrade zencart as they didn't do the files in the custom folder, they just modified the core files. No work was done on the site yesterday or in past week and everything worked. This morning, my site can't be accessed.
https://www.northstarcraftsupply.com I can access it with htp, and am not seeing where any files were modified last night.
Doteasy said they are fine (my host).
What are some things to look for?

Re: Why would everything not work suddenly?

Check to see that the database still exists and that the database access information (user name, password, DB name) in the configure.php files are correct. Can you access the admin side ?

Re: Why would everything not work suddenly?

It says exactly what it says on the tin, you can't connect to your database. So first go into phpmyadmin in your cpanel back end and check it hasn't magically disappeared first.

Then check your includes/configure.php files

EDIT : Lol, what he said above ^

Re: Why would everything not work suddenly?

I can't access my admin site either. It pops up with this:
WARNING: An Error occurred, please refresh the page and try again.
Ok.....configure file there..looks to be ok and didn't show that it had been accessed or anything since Feb 23.

Re: Why would everything not work suddenly?

Forgot to add that database is there. Showing 1.65 mb in there, not sure how big it was prior as I hadn't looked. I went through the cpanel of doteasy - is that correct?

Yes. At this point, if I were you, I'd be talking to my host again. Don't just ask them about your files, let them know you can't access your database on the store side and the admin login page on that side.

Re: Why would everything not work suddenly?

I may have to already do a big thank you to you guys, the first call to doteasy, nothing wrong. Once I worded it like you said - they said there may be an issue on the database side on THEIR end. I am hoping nothing is lost as I don't know where to start. Once the company I hired to do the changes I needed, I was able to see what they changed and was staaaarting to get a basic understanding of what they did and how to do it.
Doteasy is working on the issue and they do think it's on their end now. So we will see. Thank you

Re: Why would everything not work suddenly?

Your site appears to be loading fine now. Glad you got the problem solved. I know how frustrating it can be to run in to issues while operating early in the learning curve.
