Where can I find someone to help me restore my database?

I have a friend who has been heloing me with my zen cart

but we transferred my site to a virtual dedicated server and now he tells me the database needs restoring.

Does someone know where I can find help?
Maybe pay someone for the assistance in this.

thank you

Re: Where can I find someone to help me restore my database?

It is your database which is unique to your store, how can someone else has the same database?

You don't really provide much information to start helping you. Database doesn't just disappear. Plus you said you just moved your site to a new server, didn't you have a copy of the database on the old server that you can use it to restore your database for which ever reason it needs to be restored.

If you made a back up of your database before you moved your site, then doing a restore is SO easy that it's a shame to pay someone to do it when there are step by step tutorials on the forum:

However, if you feel that hiring someone is best, =Web+Development&eng[]=4-stars?vt_cmp=zencart"]check out this site.

But be careful...check the credentials of whomever you choose to hire. Hiring someone online that you've never met comes with inherent risk (i.e. they may not be who they say they are, they may not know as much as they say they do, they may not be trustworthy, etc).

Having said that, there are a TON of wonderful, smart, talented, honest people who LOVE zen cart and KNOW it inside out and backward that are available for hire there.

Just choose wisely is all I'm saying

Re: Where can I find someone to help me restore my database?

Thank you for that useful information.
I am not a programmer and I really do not know what to do
My web site is going once again but I have no access to the admin.

I get an error messsage

1146 Table 'sho1115207160150.project_version' doesn't exist
in:
[select * from project_version WHERE project_version_key = 'Zen-Cart Database' ]
If you were entering information, press the BACK button in your browser and re-check the information you had entered to be sure you left no blank fields.

Re: Where can I find someone to help me restore my database?

Yikes! First of all...NEVER post a link to your admin logon page because it gives away the name of your admin folder and that makes it easier for hackers to find a way in.

Since you have already posted it...you will need to log in to your cpanel and change the name of the admin folder, and then update that change in these two files:

admin/includes/configure.php
includes/configure.php

You don't need to be a programmer to change the name of your admin, update the two files listed above, or restore your database.

That said...if you just don't understand any of this, or simply prefer to hire someone....use the link I gave you in my last post to find someone reliable to hire.

Until your database is restored...you won't be able to access your admin. Basically what you have here is a half-migrated site. Your friend started it, but didn't finish the job.

Make sure the person you hire is a Zen Cart pro

Good Luck

To find out how to log in to your cpanel, contact your hosting company and ask them to walk you through it.

To learn how to restore the database, click the links I provided in my initial response to you. They will lead you to the tutorials you'll need to read to understand how it works and what steps to take.

Re: Where can I find someone to help me restore my database?

On second thought....I agree with your first instinct and recommend you hire someone to help you with this. Use the link I provided in my initial response to you to find a ZC expert for hire.

Good luck and happy Zenning

Re: Where can I find someone to help me restore my database?

And hire someone who will tell you what they are doing and why, to help you understand what to do yourself. It should be worth hiring someone helpful over just someone who will do it and leave you clueless... Read the tutorials in any case to make yourself better able to talk with a programmer you hire.

By the way, if you have a Zen Cart v1.5.0 site, you don't need to edit the /admin/includes/configure.php file, as it automatically adjusts itself to the folder path it finds itself in. And the /includes/configure.php doesn't have any reference to the admin folder, so nothing to edit there in any version.

Re: Where can I find someone to help me restore my database?

Hello

My friend has lft hospital and he has restore my database and everything. It all seems fine now, I joined a virtual dedicated server and it is now faster!

My next issue is images will not write to the server :(

I get an error message,

Error: Destination not writeable /var/www/vhosts/www.snagssharkteeth.com/httpdocs/images/0823/
Error: Catalog images directory is not writeable: /var/www/vhosts/www.snagssharkteeth.com/httpdocs/images/

any ideas?
