Abbiamo Supremo Support Thread

hey mate,

sorry to be a pain, bet ur getting sick of my by now :P say i wanted to change my whole menu bar, instead of gradients i used images instead, this would solve my problem of my website looking different in internet explorer and would give my shop a professional looking feel...

what files are linked the drop down?

obv stylesheet.css section 1.menu bar deals with the styling and this is where i would be 'inputting' the image? would it be viable to remove all in the menu bar section and replace with a custom menu bar code? i would also have to edit the tpl_drop_down as this is where i specify links ?

still really new mate to css and coding in general but im picking it up fast so a rough guide and ill back up my site and give it a good old shot..

cheers in advance mate

andy

Re: Abbiamo Supremo Support Thread

basically, i plan on designing the menu in photoshop. each catagorie has a individual button IE

Home <link to home page<dropdown with all catagories/sub cats> PC <link to sub cats> PS3 <link to ps3 sub cats> XBOX 360 <link to xbox sub cats> About us <link to page> log in , register

i plan on having a base image for the text and a 'hover button' so its like a clickable menu with seperate images for each link

i know its going to be alot of work, but i need my site to look the best it can in all browsers

Re: Abbiamo Supremo Support Thread

ok, i have figured out the basica i think.

so the tpl_drop_down contains the dynamic code? for the shop store/catagories, and also the content of the menu bar. obv the first one is the home line and the last one is the contact us code.

so i have an idea there of what needs to be edited what i want to keep, how i want to arrange it etc. in fact ive pretty much written a new one. keeping what i want, taking out what i dont want

hows this?

<body>
  <div id="wrapper_menu"><!-- BEGIN MENU WRAPPER -->
   <ul class="menu menu_blue"><!-- BEGIN MENU -->

   <li class="current"><a href="https://www.consolecodeslab.com/"><img src=  "https://www.consolecodeslab.com/images/Home.png" alt=""/>        </a></li>

   <li><a href="https://www.consolecodeslab.com/index.php?main_page=about_us"><img src="https://www.consolecodeslab.com/images/Aboutus.png" alt="some_text"/>
</a></li>

  <li class="submenu"><a href=""><img src="https://www.consolecodeslab.com/images/store.png" alt=""/></a>

            <div class="dropdown_1column"><!-- Begin 1 column container -->
                <div class="col_1 firstcolumn">
                   <ul class="levels">

</ul>

</body>
</html>

Remember im a complete nub and ive literally taught myself this in a night. mixing and matching from ur tpl basic common sense jigsaw piece thinking.

if theres any errors please let me know

i am still messing around with the button text / font / size etc. i plan on having hover over images basically 2 of the same image but with one slightly changed so the user knows they are on that button. as long as i dont use img that are to big im sure i can keep page load times up. and also it will solve styling issues in IE. i mean theres nothing to revert to (gradients > block colours) if its all image based. it will ensure my site looks the same on all browsers.

any help would be great im at a brick wall atm! :)

Andy, when I click on your Home link in your green menu bar it goes to page not found. Looks like you have some " at the end of the url.

Re: Abbiamo Supremo Support Thread

SPH:

Yes, yellow is gone. But I think that the strange space is still there; it's just now white instead of yellow. When change back and forth from compatability view, the page jumps and the menu bar goes slightly up and down in relation to other text in header. May explain why search button moves.

But much better than the yellow. Thanks.

I have it planned to eliminate that problem in the next release that should be updated and finished this week. I thought of that but its a little more than changing the css so I will have that update soon

hey mate my contact us form has gone to pot and i dont know how! any ideas? ive been through the code and cant locate the problem

Sorry I have been MIA over the weekend! But I am looking over your site and I see a few changes you have made and its coming right along.

I am not sure out off all those posts which ones you are still wanting help with so I will just say a few things, if you have any further questions throw them at me! :-)

I am not sure where the contact page us messed up if you can let me know what the issue is I can try and find a fix,

The dropdown is coming along, the few things I see on there is that the padding and spacing on hover is different then regular which is why the lettering jumps. Will have to change the padding on hover till it does not move on hover.

I think once you fix that it would look pretty good! Let me know if there are anything else you still had questions on.

PS I am creating a fix for the IE explorer compatibility mode that I should be able to have within a few days so when that is fixed I will help you get that updated as well so you don't have to worry about it!

Thanks
Brandon Turpin

hi mate

basically when the menu from the bar for contact us drops down all the input fields and text are messed up basically they are not in line, for now ive removed the contact us form and linked it to the contact us page to get around it for now.

thanks for the padding advice only problem i got is the only way it will stop moving is if i remove padding, but then i cant use the drop down menus :S

im really happy so far, and some bugs or unintential error maybe?

on the contact us form the corner on the right was straight even in mozzila i fixed some code for it to make all corners rounded.
one way to get around ur template looking different in different browsers especially IE, have the background for ur menu bar a picture then no matter the browser u will have a gradient bar :)

ok, so my next project now, is to get the menu drop downs looking amazing but i dont know how to go about replacing the gradient with a glossy background..so it dont look so plain and it more in theme with the menu bar...any pointers mate?

That can be addressed with placing them in a table to format them.

Something similar to this

<table border="0">
<tr>
<td>Name</td>
<td>[NAME FIELD]</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>Email</td>
<td>[EMAIL FIELD]</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td colspan="2">Message</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td colspan="2">Submit button</td>
</tr>
</table>
