Add an e-mail sign up form
A great way to increase visibility is through an opt in e-mail list. Yes, Zen Cart has and option to do this, but it's very basic and I prefer a WYSIWYG type editor. Here is what I did:
I used a free account with Mail Chimp but I know you can do this with a paid service such as Constant Contact.
Create a list and the generate the code to add an e-mail sign up form to your site.
Create a new category and title it "Newsletter sign up" or whatever you'd like to call it.
Copy the code for the form from your preferred e-mail service and paste it into the box for text.
Click Save and check out your site to make sure it works.
You might prefer to change the sort order so that the Newsletter link shows up first under Categories.
--OR--
You can create an EZ Page (Admin>Tools>EZPages, then edit an existing page) and title it Newsletter Sign Up (or your preferred title) and use a link on that page. Mail Chimp gave me a short URL that opens up the form in a new browser window. I just added that code at the bottom of the page for an external link.
The tricky part is figuring out how to get that link to show up on the site. You have to go to Admin>Tools>EZPages and edit the page to show up in the area you prefer it to show.
