next, previous and other buttons not showing

I dowloaded the abby template and decided to get aqainted with it on my localhost host before putting it live, everything worked fine, didnt need to do much to the template other than change logo and background... however once i migrated to a live server and installed from scratch zen cart, using the same template the order of the products has changed from rows to grids, and when i open a product , next , previous and etun to product listing are missing

I opened up both versions of the admin and checked to see if something was ticked that shouldnt be but all is the same
places i checked
product listing, product info , layout settings

on page 1instead of it being rows its now grids... and buttons are missing
page 2 all 3 buttons are missing ....

I cant think of any thing i might have done differently , all is the same in admin... can anyone help?

some more info :
in config ,product listing, display multiple items is set to 3, but that only shows in the all products page.

from reading what some poster did regarding some issue with theirr next/ previous button i looked up tpl_modules_product_listing.php

on my trial version that shows the buttons tpl_modules_product_listing.php isnt even on my custom template, and adding it still doesnt make any changes to the live version...

Now that you have the site on a server, please provide a link so we can see for ourselves.

What's your setting in Admin - Configuration - Product Info - Previous Next - Navigation Bar Position ?

I'm not sure what you're asking about the layout - you don't want the grid layout ?
