ZX Slideshow support thread

I have installed all correctly through filezilla. When I install patch it says ERROR: Cannot insert configuration_key "" because it already exists
I have seen that I need to access phpmyadmin but have never used this before. I have got access and have typed in ZX in what I think is the right place to search and nothing shows up. I unistalled the patch from the zencart dashboard and reinstalled using phpmyadmin. Still nothing. I have it showing in the zen dash but only the header. I maybe haven't done the right thing in php my admin but it is a bit intimidating in there when you have never seen it before.
Well, messing with phpmyadmin can be disastrous if you make a few wrong moves and delete something that you shouldn't... Try browsing your configuration table and configuration_group and check somewhere at the end to see if there are ANY entries that might refer to ZX...

I do have andover modern but some of the team, who only use the zen dash type things on the main page and that destroys the andover modern slider every time! Meaning I have to go back an re-upload over and over which they hate as looks bad! Want a slider we can operate though the zen dashboard... Didn't think would be so difficult!

Yup, because you're probably using some HTML editor (either built-in HTML editor or CKeditor or TinyMCE or something...). If they use Plain Text editor, this won't happen.

And, yes, this was yet another case of a server which simply doesn't accept the install SQL... I had to manually run the SQL statement from phpmyadmin and it's working fine now.

Perhaps this kind of issue would be eliminated if you put the SQL inside an auto installer?? (just a suggestion..)

Uhm... Does 1.3.9 support auto installers? I don't remember seeing it... But it's definitely a good thing to add and is planned. However, I have a few other ideas to add, but just don't have the time... I'll definitely add an auto installer in the next release. Not sure when that's gonna be, tho...

yes v1.3.9 does support it as far as I know given that there are other add-ons that used auto installers as far back as 1.3.8..

One thing is for sure I eliminated 90% of the support questions for the add-ons I support simply by the inclusion of a SQL auto install.. SQL install issues were 90% of the support questions asked..

with value TRUE, I have locat all the files in the zip in to my template and i have also try to change the zx_slidshow.php to 2.0.1 and nothing happens

I cant get anything too show on my site! what do i do wrong? i have checkt all the folders for jscript that could block the slidshow and
put show on main page to FALSE in layout config.

I'm afraid I have no idea what to tell you, but for some reason I have a feeling your tpl_index_default.php isn't loading AT ALL. This might be caused by the template (it's TemplateMonster so it wouldn't surprise me). If my hunch is right, you'll need to figure out a way to get any code showing on your home page. When you figure it out, just copy the ZX Slideshow block of code from the module's tpl_index_default.php file (it's commented and it's just a few lines of code to copy).

YES that was the problem I just chaged the templatemonsters tpl_index_default.php and take the zx_slideshow code and copy it in to the fil and works!!! THANK you, almost getting crasy over here about the problem but now it GOOD!

but i wondering if its a problem to move the slideshow more too the right! if you look now its more center of the page and the banners are made to
be att the edge of the site, if u look its a small gape between slidshow and the edge!?

I was away, sorry...

In your case, the positioning has nothing to do with ZX Slideshow. Your left side box column is set to 230px width. The slideshow starts where the left column ends...

I'm not sure what exactly you want, but you'll probably need to play with CSS to get it positioned the way you want.

Working on https://www.theengravingshop.co.uk, using version 1.5.1. Having a small issue here. Using the slideshow, but when the pictures change, it seems to be loading two pictures, one on top of another. Only when the slide changes does the picture display correctly. Can anyone please help to fix this?

It seems that you're loading an old version of jQuery... Delete /includes/templates/custom/jscript/jscript_jquery.js and reload (clear cache) and I believe everything will be OK.

I just checked your site and it seems that you have quite a few jQuery instances loading at the same time, thus killing the slideshow. You'll need to delete a few files you had from before to avoid current conflicts and get ZX Slideshow working.

Go to /indexable-tools/includes/templates/modern_blue/jscript/ and delete the following files:

jscript_coin-slider.js
jscript_coin-slider.min.js
jscript_jquery-1.4.4.min.js
jscript_jquery.js

There's also a piece of code from Easy Slider that I'm not sure where it's coming from, could be located under /includes/modules/pages/index/ so please check there as well.

Once you remove those files, I believe the ZX Slideshow will work normally. If not, let me know and I'll check again.

P.S. Remember to backup before making any changes.

:D And I thought it would be rude of me to comment on that post... Not that I mind, but it really was bad taste. It would be much better if that plugin was contributed in the Plugins section and available for everyone to download from there. At least we would have one central place to download free stuff...
