Product menu - adding custom links in there?

In the menu that lists all my products by categories laid out in the Catalog Manager, can I add a few links to some special pages? They wouldn't be products, just informational pages.

Also, what do I use to build this? EZpages? I've checked the sticky on this forum, but still struggling to get that to play properly with the eStore I've inherited from another developer.

I'm not sure what you're asking. EZ pages are what you want to use for non-product informational pages, but they have their own manager under Admin - Tools.

Re: Product menu - adding custom links in there?

So, technically two separate, but related questions:

  1. In the menu that lists products, how do I add one or two links to the same menu that lead to pages that aren't products?

  2. How do I best make these non-product pages?

You would have to enter the code/links in the categories sidebox template file.

Thanks!

That's what I thought - a template override for question # 1.

How about #2, what's the best way to do it?

Re: Product menu - adding custom links in there?

Ive done exactly this on my dress site in my sig. That site is actually two sites. If you click the left hand side of the main entry page image, and look at the categories sidebox in the store, you'll see at the bottom 'Alices' Dresses. Thats a hard coded link to the other side of the store and not a system generated category.

Thanks - I'll have to go through the EZ pages tutorial again to figure out why they aren't appearing, and hard code them in.

Did you turn on your ez pages to be visible in the footer and set the sort order to say 50? They should appear then.

Re: Product menu - adding custom links in there?

Originally, I had it set with
Sidebox: On, order 100
Chapter: 0, TOC Yes, Order 200

Internal and External link fields are empty.

Re: Product menu - adding custom links in there?

Your original question is not completely clear on where you want to add the links: > 1) In the menu that lists products, how do I add one or two links to the same menu that lead to pages that aren't products? The sidebox does not list products, only categories; products are in the product listing page for each category.

From further comments, it does appear that you really want the links in the categories sidebox. Is this true? If so, Categories Dressing allows you to add "headings" above or "comments" below any category, and these can be links pointing anywhere that look just like a standard category if you style them that way.

Yes, I'm talking about the categories sidebox - thank you, I have not yet learned ZenCart's lingo. I will check to see if that works.
