Gift Certificates sent to non existent emails

Is there a check in zen cart as a gift certificate is sent that prevents a deduction of the gift amount if the email address is going to a non existent account. For example, it looks like I can sent a gift certificate to say, "johnsmith" without even have the "@" sign.

Any thoughts?

Sorry about the post. The email finally was sent to my account saying that it was no delivered. So this does work properly.

I am a little surprised that you could send the GV without a valid format on the email address ... I cannot reproduce the problem in v1.5 with an email address without at least a correct format ...

What version of Zen Cart are you using? :unsure:
