Email problem: Remote host said: 554 Blocked for spam

I would like to set up my email in zen cart so it looks like my "normal" email.
Here's the problem I'm having. I can send emails from my email account at godaddy to my email account at comcast.net. When I try to send an email from my estore (which is my godaddy email) to my comcast.net email account, I get it kicked back (usually after many hours). Here is a part of the Mailer-Daemon message:

Remote host said: 554 imta29.westchester.pa.mail.comcast.net comcast 208.109.80.74 Comcast Blocked for spam. Please see http://postmaster.comcast.net/smtp-error-codes.php#BL000000.

So it looks like the email coming from my estore is different than the email directly from my godaddy acount.
Any ideas on what is different, and how it so the estore email is not kicked back? I hope that this is clear.

Many thanks in advance.

Re: Email problem: Remote host said: 554 Blocked for spam

Thanks DrByte. I have read those.

It looks like "SMTPAUTH tends to be less likely to land your sent messages into the bit-bucket, since to send the messages your account has to be validated--making things appear to be more trustworthy"

When I set up to use SMTPAUTH I get the following error message in zen-cart:Error ERROR: Failed sending email to: "xxxxxxxxxxxx" with subject: "Test with smtpauth" SMTP Error: Could not connect to SMTP host.

My setting are:
SMTP Email Account Mailbox mail@my_domain_name.com
SMTP Email Account Password ********* (same as my godaddy password)
SMTP Email Mail Host mail@my_domain_name.com
SMTP Email Mail Server Port 25

What am I missing?

Re: Email problem: Remote host said: 554 Blocked for spam

Probably port 25 is blocked by your ISP to prevent spam.
When running ZC on a testing webserver from home, you need to use the same settings in your ZC SMTPAUTH details as you use in your Outlook or Thunderbird email client application's Outgoing SMTP mail settings.

Thanks DrByte,
My Outlook is set to port 25 for Outgoing SMTP mail, so I'm going to guess that that setting is correct. Could it be some type of path problem, because my estore is below my primary website at godaddy?

Path problem? I'm not sure what you mean? How is "path" related to email?

I notice that the SMTP settings you posted don't look anything like the GoDaddy instructions mentioned in the articles I pointed you to earlier, which you said you'd read and followed.
Perhaps that's your problem.

Re: Email problem: Remote host said: 554 Blocked for spam

Just wanted to give an update, and I'm still looking for help.
The current setting as follows:
E-Mail Transport Method smtp
E-Mail Linefeeds LF
SMTP Email Account Mailbox my_mail_name@my_domain.com
SMTP Email Account Password ********* (same as my godaddy hosting account email, even though I'm not using SMTPAUTH)
SMTP Email Mail Host relay-hosting.secureserver.net
SMTP Email Mail Server Port 25

(I've tried SMTPAUTH with about the same intermittent results.)

Here's the current information. I sent an email to my wife's comcast.net account at 7:05 am. It did arrive at 9:51 am. I later send 4 emails to my wife's email account at comcast.net #1 was sent at 2:02 pm and received at 2:02 pm. I have not seen #2 (sent at 2:03 pm) or #3 (sent at 3:05 pm) (yet? It's currently 4:30 my time). #4 was sent at 3:06 pm and received at 3:06 pm. The same type of results happen when I sent emails to my comcast account. Two of them made it quickly and the other 2 have not yet been received.

So I still must have something set incorrectly, except I don't know what since it works sometimes and sometimes it doesn't.

I guess I could reload the "default" zen cart 1.3.9h, and see if I have any problems with the default download. If that works I would add the template, recheck, then turn on SSL and recheck. Maybe that's what I need to do?

I'm completely open and willing (less pain would be better) to do what it takes to get the email system working (fast and consistent would be nice).

Any more suggestions and direction of the "best" path to follow would be greatly appreciated.

p.s. I did sent email from my godaddy account to my comcast account, and all 3 were received within 1 minute.

I'm headed off for vacation for 10 days :D It turns out that this is NOT a problem with zen cart:laugh: After I get all the information together, then I'll post a reply that I hope will help other zen cart users.
