Hi. Following my installing Zen Cart I received the error message that can be seen at https://www.recoupi.net. Any ideas on where I went wrong?

Says the following:

fro/

Um, that's a directory-listing, which is a result of the server's configuration for your domain name being pointed to a (mostly) empty folder.

Zen Cart needs to be installed in the folder that your domain is pointed to.

So, either you put the Zen Cart files in the wrong place, or your server is misconfigured.

You'll need to talk to your hosting company to sort out what's wrong on your server, or what folder you should have uploaded files to.

You have installed ZC under the directory "fro". You can leave it there but it will be much easier to use the tutorial to move it to the root.

dbltoe, good catch. I dunno why I didn't think to check that; musta been because I've no idea why one would use "fro" as a folder into which to install a store.

Within the folder(Directory) called home directory there is a folder

called public_html, within that folder I have made a new folder called

"fro" and uploaded my zen Cart to this directory. I only uploaded files

one but I notice that folder I made called "fro" appears twice, once in the

"public_html" folder and once in the "www" so the structure is as follows:

Home
_public_html
___cgi- bin
___fro
_www
___cgi- bin
___fro

I structured like this as my site has is composed of various activities and

I want each under a different directory.

Please tell me if this is ok.

I had a bit of a problem representing file structure using this. It came out looking strange. It doesnt allow me to put spaces from the lefthand margin when actually posted. Anyway, "home" is one directory, "public_html" and "www" are the next level down and "fro" along with "cgi_bin" are the next level down both within the "public_html" and "www" directories.

That's because your server automatically creates an alias of "www" to point to the "public_html" folder as well.
They do this because some people find "www" to be more intuitive to them than "public_html".
But they're one and the same.
They're "symlinks" of each other.
If you change something in one, that change is immediately visible in the other, because they're both looking at the same place.

So, best to just ignore, forget about, the "www" folder, and simply work with "public_html" instead.

Right now you've set your site up as follows:

• www.your_domain.com - gives the listing of folders, because there's no website files in that folder, because it points to public_html (this is also referred to as "the root of your site".
• www.your_domain.com/fro - gives Zen Cart, because that's where you put the Zen Cart files

As dbltoe said, if you wanted Zen Cart "in the root", you could move it using the tutorial he mentioned. Or just delete the fro folder and start your ZC install over again by uploading its files into the public_html folder directly (instead of into a subfolder).
