Server Crash trying to restore site strange Customer table problem

The old version v138a blew up after the server crashed and came back up with new security settings. Tried to upgrade the database, that won't work so copied tables one at a time.
In the admin the customer files are empty -- the name is there like Mary Smith and her orders are there but in the customer info section there is no info.

After we got the site working sort of we tried to buy something and the customer information was not added to the file. It was still blank when we were done.

How does one go about fixing this?

Re: Server Crash trying to restore site strange Customer table problem

Is this related to the 9 other discussion threads you've started about problems with your site in the last couple weeks?

All your posts seem to have similar issues, and the whole picture is extremely muddy, making it extremely difficult to provide any meaningful help. Every time you start another post you create more confusion and disconnected discussions without the whole big picture, thus resulting in incomplete ability to give accurate/useful responses.

What you've described in this post indicates that your site should be put into maintenance mode and not made live until you sort it out. You've clearly got seriously damaged or missing database content, and probably need someone with solid database knowledge to get hands-on with fixing your issues. It's unwise to do upgrades while also switching servers and mussing with different databases and prefixes and PHP versions and MySQL versions.

Re: Server Crash trying to restore site strange Customer table problem

I have about 20 zen carts on the server that crashed. Each has its own issues. These are not the same problem over and over again with the same site. Some are upgrade related problems, some on newly installed sites. Most are however about how different parts of the software or database control different problems I am having with different sites. Each has its own unique problem and unique solution. That is why I am trying to be so general about the problem so perhaps I can use the solution for more than one of these carts.

That's why the question "is this related" was asked. The more we know about waht is (or isn't) connected, the better our position to help.

I understand where you are going with this, but being so general may not be the best way to go. As you stated, each has its own problem and solution, so it's best to concentrate on any given one, and if the solution happens to solve other problems that is just icing on the cake.

I'm not sure what you mean by this. What security settings? ZenCart?, Server? File permissions?

cshart:

Tried to upgrade the database, that won't work

Why didn't it work? What was the error message?

cshart:

so copied tables one at a time.

Unless you know exactly what you are doing, this is just heading for disaster. You've essentially jumped out of the fry pan and into the fire.

This is the stage where I'd suggest cutting your losses and reverting to your last known good backups.
