How do I get information from the database for my custom reports?

I'm creating a new page independent of my store. It will reside on the same server. How do I extract information from the database in order to create my own custom reports for the invoices? I want to be able to grab customer information, item information, and so on.

I'm good with MySQL and PHP, I'm just asking for the logic of this to get me started.

Thanks!

Maybe. Thanks for sharing. How do I know what it does before I install it? The description is quite vague.

Ok, I looked at the program. It's close, but doesn't have everything I need.

However, I can build what I need. I just need help getting started. All I need to do is be able to grab information from the database. If I can do it for one variable, I can figure out the rest.

If you use that plugin as a base, it'll save you a lot of time and trouble in your learning curve.

Hi OP - did you ever get the data you need? I'm on the same quest as you and am looking at alternatives.

Using the mod/plugin as a basis will, as gjh42 and DrByte said previously, help to guide you through how to structure your PHP to gather and display the information you desire. A similar question was asked and answered here (http://www.zen-cart.com/showthread.php?202524-how-to-look-for-a-field-value-in-db-base-on-relatived-filed-value) about how to retrieve a single value from a single table in the database based on a single condition.
