Payment by SID or 'Secure Instant Deposit'

Currently using 1.3.9h but hope to have upgraded to 1.5 in the next fortnight.

Meantime, anyone familiar with SID or 'Secure Instant Deposit' as a method of payment, whereby customer links directly to their internet banking account and transfers funds directly to the (Zencart) merchant?

No option that I can see in 1.3.9h, but maybe 1.5.0 has, or maybe it's called something else?

I see it's offered as a payment option to merchants in at least UK, SA and US (https://www.sidpayment.com).

Advantages are immediate payment and claimed to be safer than credit cards.

I would like to investigate possibility of offering this as an additional payment method in our Zencart.

SID Instant EFT's a brilliant online payment option, which allows shoppers to make payments directly from their bank accounts to the merchant's bank account within minutes. There are a number of pre-integrated modules available for download from http://www.sidpayment.com/Default.aspx?page=GetStarted , which make integration pretty easy. The current Zencart module is for v1.3.9, but new upgrades are made available regularly.

SID is currently only available to South African merchants though, but you're totally right about it being much safer than credit card payment. SID facilitates an instant EFT, which is irreversible, thereby eliminating the risk of chargebacks.

SID also happens to be more affordable as transactions are charged at 1.5%.
