Shipping to Spainish provinces+ Europe

Hello,
I need to ship to Spain, but how can i Split the country into different shipping zones? Distinguishing provinces and special areas (Canary Islands, Gibraltar, Ceuta, Melilla etc.).
Plus i need to ship to the rest of Europe by country.

Can someone recommend a good and working shipping module that does this?

I was thinking about cloning the built-in 'zones' shiping module as explained here for the flat rate module, but I'm not sure if that is possible...

Thanks in advance for any help:smile:

  1. Upgrade your site to 1.5 NOW, BEFORE you worry about anything else. Or you will be hacked.

  2. Luckily for you Zen Cart comes with the spanish provinces already defined. Put the mainland provinces in a zone, and the EX-IVA ones in another.

  3. Use a shipping module and set it to only work with one zone.

  4. Clone the module and set it to work to the other zone. Clone as many as you wish or just buy Ceon Advanced Shipper.

I was thinking about cloning the built-in 'zones' shiping module as explained here for the flat rate module, but I'm not sure if that is possible...

A strange question...if the thread explains how to do it, I think you can assume it is possible!!

Anyway this is Zen Cart, it can be modified to do anything you like, depending on how much you are prepared to learn/spend.

I saw that the thread I linked to was about the 'flat rate module', that's why i am thinking if it would be ok to use it to copy the zones module as well...

I checked but the only option under 'Zone Definitions' is either 'All Zones' or one of only them (it's a drop down menu, not a text field), what am i missing?

About backing up the site before upgrading... will downloading the whole site via FTP be good enough to recover from in case something goes wrong? I just know how to use that and the Zen Cart control panel. I don't know anything about SQL, should I? in order to make a good backup that is...

Another question is... I have some modules that I'm not sure if they are compatible (in fact i think they don't) with 1.5.0, will i be safe if i just upgrade to 1.3.9? (and btw, why is there no 1.4?)

If you need to ask about this, Buy the Zen Cart book.

About backing up the site before upgrading
Offtopic:There are very detailed instructions in the fileset and wiki about the safe procedure.

Offtopic.
No. Upgrade. Remove modules files that have not been updated. If you really need some functionality/module that has not been upgraded consider paying someone to fix it.

Please keep threads as a single topic. Most if not almost all questions have already been asked and answered many times over.
Use Google to search, not the forum search.
