The weirdest problem I've had after an upgrade. One language works, the second? nope.

So this is a strange one.

I just upgraded this site from 1.3.8 to 1.5:
http://slavchess.com/

It works fantastic in English but when I switch over to Hebrew it breaks at checkout. After payment confirmation it goes to a blank page. The order is logged to the cart and confirmations are sent to the customer. Just a big old blank page.

I've checked the logs in the cache folder...nada.
Everything worked correctly before the upgrade.
We have image handler and the minimum purchase module installed, Everything else is pretty standard. Let me know what else you need!

Thanks everyone!

  1. Your duplicate posts have been merged. Please don't spam the forum with duplicates of the same thing. Instead, reply to your prior post and give additional information that might help explain the bigger picture better.

  2. If your problem is happening after payment confirmation, then it's probably a bug in your payment module that's causing things to not complete properly.
Using old payment modules that were not properly designed for v1.3.9 or v1.5.0 will often cause the symptoms you describe, especially if any error-message-handling is being passed in the URL instead of via the $messageStack. In that case rewriting the payment module's error-message-handling is the first thing to do.

Ok, we'll give that a shot and let you know! Sorry about the duplicate posts, just wasn't sure where to post this problem.

Well, I tried it with the on-board standard Cash On Delivery module and the Free Checkout and no luck. Both of those also worked fine in English, it's only the Hebrew language checkout that's borked.

If it works in core english, but not in Hebrew, then at least you've nailed it down to the Hebrew add-on...

Oh totally, It's just that the majority of my business is in Hebrew, this sucker really needs to work. I'm going to remove the Hebrew completely and re-install.

There are some substantial changes to the structure and contents of LANGUAGE files in 1.5 - particularly in the ADMIN languages files.

You need to look carefully at all the ENGLISH language files in 1.5, then make sure your equivalent HEBREW language files contain the same defines.

Re: The weirdest problem I've had after an upgrade. One language works, the second? nope.

I just wanted to update this post to help others that may be having the same issue. I narrowed this error down to includes/languages/hebrew/modules/order_total/ot_loworderfee.php. When I compared the files on the clients website to the downloaded language pack and the english version of the file there were no differences. When I copied the english version to the website the problem went away. I then added the translations to the english version and when I saved it received a message about the encoding. I changed the encoding for the file to utf8 and copied the file back to the website and it now works fine.
