Urgent problem - customers cannot check out

Someone emailed the shop owner saying he couldn't check out. She has one item that's priced by attributes. I'm trying to order the item myself and I'm getting "Sorry, we are not shipping to your region at this time.", but it's being picked up, not shipped. Any ideas?

What shipping methods are you using?

What are the settings in the Configuration ... Shipping/Packaging ...

I tried to do something slick with it and apparently it's not working.

Zone shipping is installed, but this product had to work outside of that, so I added 2 attributes. If the customer wants the item mailed to him/her, the product is $13. If the customer is picking up the item in person, it's $10. You can't get past the first step of checkout.

I tried it with my own account which means shipping is all within the US (domestic).

What should happen on a mixed order of regular Products plus this one when someone says pickup?

Regular products should trigger the zone shipping. The special product should always appear to be "free shipping" since the shipping is being included in the price. I couldn't think of any other way to do this outside of using attributes.

I'm not sure the owner anticipated anyone picking up any product other than the special one, although it's possible someone would want to. Interesting thought...

How is your Zone Rate zones done ... Price? Item? Weight?

Zone rates are setup by weight

Then you should be able to just ...

Turn on Store Pickup storepickup ...

Add No weight to the Attribute for Store Pickup and add weight to the Attribute for Shipping and take out the price on that Attribute ...

Now the Store Pickup is available for anything, which is always a good idea ... and when the Attribute for Shipping is selected, it will add weight to the order and Zone Rates zones will work and when no weight, the order is not affected by the shipping ...

If you are not using any other Product with Free Shipping, then make sure that the setting in the Shipping/Packaging for the:

Order Free Shipping 0 Weight Status
If there is no weight to the order, does the order have Free Shipping?
0= no
1= yes

is set to No ...
