How to import a client's store to my test server with another store on it?

I have a client with an existing shop in Zencart v1.3.9., who needs a template update.
On my testserver I installed Zencart v1.3.9 and now I want to install the existing website on the testserver, so my client can follow my actions to change the old templates. I tried overwriting the files simply by the old website files, but this does not work. how can I import the website of my client in my Zencart shop on the testserver? Thanks in advance, Natasha.

You would also need to make sure that you DIDN'T overwrite
admin/includes/configure.php and includes/configure.php
on your testserver.

Also there may be mods installed that have altered the database.
So you may need to install those mods as well.
