Better location for User Reviews?

Hi Gang!

I am trying to make the user reviews more visible in a opened product page instead of appearing at the bottoms as it does now here.
Is there a way to create a box with the reviews somewhere right under the "add to cart" box?
Maybe as a div?

any clues hugely welcomed!

thanks,
Gabstero

Re: Better location for User Reviews?

The file that controls the position of the product info elements is:

tpl_product_info_display.php

If you do not have a COPY of it in your custom template over-ride folder, then copy the DEFAULT file and put it into the over-rides folder.

You can do anything you like here - as long as you retain the core PHP elements.

Re: Better location for User Reviews?

Thanks for the tip -

it worked! The only trouble is that I only want to show say the first 3-4 reviews. Otherwise the box length pushes everything down quite a bit. Do you have an idea how could I restrict that? Would be nice to have actually a scroll bar if there are more than 3-4 reviews.

thanks,
gabstero

Re: Better location for User Reviews?

You may be able to invoke SCROLLING by applying a CSS SCROLL declaration to the element.

We use SCROLL here

Niiice! Got it working!

One last thing. I cannot get the table to jump UNDER the "add to cart" box. Any trick for that? A simple br tag didn't work.

thanks

Try this br code:

<br class="clearBoth" />

Re: Better location for User Reviews?

Bear in mind that SCROLL (as a CSS declaration) is generally not supported for HANDHELD devices (Android and iPod phones, etc).

Re: Better location for User Reviews?

Your page is a little confusing... Your ATTRIBUTES are now UNDER your cross-sell section...

I would put attributes ABOVE the cross-sell, as it is not clear to the user they need to CHOOSE options for the product.

Re: Better location for User Reviews?

thanks for the tips!!

indeed the attributes were getting lost, so I moved the cross-sell section under the attributes.
I added a couple of br tags above the reviews table and that seemed to solve the issue.

Now what's left is to make the table invisible on products that have no reviews. Right now there's only an empty table that takes up space.

Any ideas on an if statement on the code I have for the reviews table now? see below:

<!--bof reviews  -->
<div align="right">
<table align="right" width="300" height="400" style="border: 1px solid black">
<tr><td height="3%"><h3>Customer Reviews</h3></td></tr>
        <tr>
            <td height="100%" valign="top">
<div id="scrolltext">
<!-- added for product review on product page -->

	<?php require($template->get_template_dir('tpl_dgReview.php', DIR_WS_TEMPLATE, $current_page_base,'templates'). '/' . 'tpl_dgReview.php');?>

  <!-- added for product review on product page -->
</div>
</td></tr>
</table>
</div>
<!--bof reviews  -->

thanks!
