MAP Pricing vs Price Fixing by the manufacturer
As my site gets a little more visibility, I have been nailed on a few occasions by manufacturers regarding MAP pricing.
I have implemented the MAP module available here, and that satisfies some, but apparently not all manufacturers.
This is what I got today from a manufacturer:
"Adding product to the shopping cart and then listing a lower price there is still a violation of MAP."
It seems that every manufacturer has a different definition.
I thought that the 'price too low to show, add to cart to see real price' was sufficient? I have yet to see a 'real' definition of how to implement a MAP policy.
Personally, I think MAP is BS price fixing, but I don't want to lose manufacturers/suppliers either.
What's your take on MAP and how to properly implement it?
