Second set of option values dependent/based on first option selected

What I'm trying to figure out is how to present the customer a set of values for a second option based on the value the customer selected for the first option. For example: I'm selling design "X" that the customer can have imprinted on a shirt, that is my "product". Option 1 for the product is "shirt type", (ladies, mens, or youth). If the customer picks a ladies shirt the "color" option values need to be purple, aqua, and yellow. If the customer picks a mens shirt the "color" options need to be white, tan, and gray. If they pick youth it needs to be blue and red.

I am NOT having trouble applying multiple options to a single product. What I can't figure out is how to base my second option (color) on what they choose for the first option (shirt type)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The v1.x series of Zen Cart doesn't have built-in support for dependent attributes.

I too, have a need for this; my second option list will be dependent on the first option selected. It seems that this is not a requirement that's unique to my situation.

Is this a feature that is planned for a forthcoming release?

Is there any sort of work-around? A plug-in? Anything?

There seems to be some sort of work-around here: http://www.zen-cart.com/showthread.php?192330-attribute-of-an-attribute but it may depend on how many attributes you have. I haven't tried it. I would suggest you check it out first in a test site before trying to add to your live site.
