Can just the Admin folder be moved from SubDomain to domain

I was wondering if I can move the admin folders to the root domain from the sub-domain where the cart was installed without moving the rest of the files.

I am constructing multiple carts in sub-domains and would like to get one SSL certificate for the primary domain.
Will this work or should I just get multiple SSL certificates?

I will change the Admin's configure.php, what else would need to be updated?

Sorry, but I don't understand what benefit you would gain by moving the admin for just one of your subdomain sites to another location. What about the admin for each of the other subdomains?
