Need someone better than Numinix

I have been using Numinix for add-ons and programming and they have really screwed up my cart system. Getting a complete run-around and no answers. Been going on for weeks and I need my cart fixed right. Can someone recommend a zen cart genious? I want someone who is considered the best and can go over my cart and fix all the bugs I have that were created by Numinix's work. The problem area is with the attributes and stock by attributes add-on.

Where can I locate a REAL zen cart guru?

Thanks in advance.

You're going to have a very tough time. After reading this post they are all going to avoid you.

Cheers

Re: Need someone better than Numinix

IT will be hard but I don't see why they would avoid you. Numinx used to be really good but I too have hired them lately and they screwed up my cart as well. They are hiring developers and Jeff doesn't do the work himself so poor quality is expected when you start hiring second grade developers to do complicated work especially on cart that have modification. Plus they just raised their rates to cover their added expense.

You can use any of the freelance websites to post your job but expect to go through few bad experiences before you find a good one.

Re: Need someone better than Numinix

I am very happy with CEON's (conor's) code.

He has a 'Product Variants' product coming out shortly that will address the shortcomings of ZenCart in this regard.

His other modules have been rock solid and I expect no less from this one.

Great but Conor told me few months ago that he won't be taking any commercial work anymore due to health issues.

I guess that was to the OP in regards to the attributes/stock by attributes issues.

Re: Need someone better than Numinix

try rubikintegration dot com. Yellow1912 was the user here, Raine as he goes by. He has written a lot of useful modules, I use him for custom work and have been very happy so far. And the prices are very reasonable.

Yeah, I tried to get Conor to do customization of just his own mods but he won't which is a shame because he really is an expert who writes excellent, logical, scalable code.

I do have Raine working on my site now, they are very good and cheap but I hired them last year to do major job which they started and worked for 2 months and then, they dropped off the face of earth. I had to hire them again last month to customize Simple SEO which they did a very good job at fixing along with other issues. Now I asked them to optimize the site but they been telling me today and tomorrow for the past week.

So back to the original poster, I have hired every known Coder on this forum and over 20 other ones on all Freelance websites they all have issue with finishing the job to the end at least in my case. I been working on the site for a year and can't see to find a good team to finish the job.

Re: Need someone better than Numinix

Well, that might have been the problem right there. He's good for working on and extending his modules as well as modifying other modules. I have never had him do major work although we discussed it but it kind of petered out like large projects are too much. But perhaps that's not fair since I never took it further, and who can say what is going on in a person's life at a specific time.

You definitely hit it on the head though. When it comes to teams of coders instead of an individual, things can get very messy if the head person has not thoroughly vetted their staff/subcontractors with real-world sticky zen cart situations and made sure they come up with elegant, well written, extensible, logical solutions. A real shame and a huge $$ opportunity for someone that can get it right.

Your experience is very disheartening, but I am so glad you shared it. I thought from your posts in the past that you had hooked up with some good coders and were making progress with your project. And I was hoping to get some contacts from you once your main project was done! I have around 15 more sites to build and I wanted to pass off development to a team, a skilled team of course. Or person that I could give a full time job to for the foreseeable future or permanently since there are always so many tweaks and modifications to do. It would be mainly clones with some specific unique features, I am just too busy running the business and it's taken off in such a huge way that I spend all of my time growing and managing the business that I have very very little time left for coding.....

Oh well, at least I can learn from your experience and steer clear of these folks..... bummer....:shocking::D and good luck on your projects!!! Your experience mirrors my initial experience getting an ecommerce site built, 5 developers over 2 years and they all flaked out for one reason or another, which led me to zen cart and doing it myself. I knew 0 about any computer languages, even html, but with this forum, web tutorials and a lot of time figuring it out for myself, I built what is now a very successful site with a zillion mods and modifications.

I might of spoken too soon when I said I found a good developer (after one month) because soon after he left the company that was doing the work which isn't Zen Cart based development firm so they been looking for someone that know Zen Cart for few months now.

I know I will have problem with whoever I am going to get now, if you have hired Raine anytime soon, you know that he has launched his pluggin system which half my site is running on, so it will be hard to find someone to learn the way they coded that and apply it on a complicated site structure.

I have put the ball in their court (Rubik) so hopefully they will come to their senses and continue working on the site. I think building a complicated e-commerce store will be to any coder best interest considering you can find millions of coders to build a start up website but having a complicated e-commerce store on your portfolio may land you bigger jobs and make you more money considering the good coders have less competition than someone that can put a template together or install few modules.

I will definitely never deal with Numinix again and will be looking to have the checkout module coded based on my specific requirements instead of their module which has hundreds of files and hundreds of lines of codes that I will never use.

More to the point, perhaps, that ecommerce is becoming too difficult/expensive for any hired help.

True to a point. Everyone now wants to make money selling online so there has been huge jump in ecommerce in the last 5 years.
Rates have increased by over 400% since I started.
Most shopping carts can't give you all the features you need out of the box even some expensive shopping carts don't give you the features that you might see online.
Some industries don't have support as others, for instance there are plenty of shopping carts tailored to apparel but none that have full support for automotive. So if your industry is complicated you need to have deep pockets to build a custom system.

Re: Need someone better than Numinix

I've just built my first non zen (no point in mentioning its name) site and I discovered all the stories about this particular cart being very complicated are not really true. Although the mods are not free like zen and so far have cost me a fair bit. Still this might be a shorter option for you (for a new site) rather than paying for so much customisation in order to get a zencart looking and working like a modern day shopping cart should, right out of the box. For my existing stores to make this change is not quite so easy.

Re: Need someone better than Numinix

I have only used 2 outside devs, both from opendesk, both let me down. I have 3 mods which need creating, nothing major, just nice bells and whistles. I had thought about contacting SWGUY, as he seems very savvy but ideally I'd like a UK based dev. I just never seem to be able to get around to organising it.
