Possible to setup as a members / subscription site?

I've been doing a lot of digging on this, without much success so far. I'm wondering if it's possibly to setup a member / subscription service within a Zencart site, or if a module already exists for this?

We've worked out ways in which we can hide content from certain member levels using the Customer Groups functionality. That, tied to adding in additional columns for page content (where certain columns will be hidden based on Customer group). The hiding / showing of content isn't really the problem. Rather, it's to do with payment / subscription. In particular, recurring payments.

Is there a module of sorts that allows for recurring payment, with automated adding to a customer group based on payment level. Then, with options to upgrade membership?

We did think of creating memberships simply as standard products and selling that way, but it doesn't allow for recurring payment and would require manual addition to customer groups. Fine at the start while numbers are low, but a nightmare waiting to happen when numbers pickup and renewals start.

So I thought I'd change my arm to see if anyone else had done anything similar or new of a plugin that did part of this, which we could then learn from and build our own (happy to share how we did it if we do indeed manage it!).

There's no recurring payment function in Zencart, nor any mod that I'm aware of. Some ideas here:

Thanks for the response on this. Much appreciated. I couldn't find anything either, but that link you've given is interesting. Essentially we could setup a new product type for "memberships", and embed a Paypal button in there rather than taking them through the ZenCart.

Not sure it will give us exactly what we need, but it's certainly a step further forward (with some options) than I was before!
