Fallen prey to server PHP upgrade - need to identify my installed version

My host has also upgraded their PHP version which killed my admin portion of the site (get the dreaded "Deprecated function ereg()..." message. I know I now have to quickly upgrade my version of zen-cart. While the site is up and running, I can't get into the admin portion - that is where the error messages show up - so I can't view the main page to see what the installed version is. I need to know that so I can make sure I do a proper file comparison to identify my customizations.

What file would have the version number? I have looked at a number of them but the headers only list copyright dates.

Is there any way to turn on "Down for Maintenance" when one can't get into the admin console due to the php version problem?

if you have access to phpmyadmin, navigate to the "configuration" table, find the "DOWN FOR MAINTENANCE" row, and change the value from false to true. or, you can run this sql command from phpmyadmin (i'm not expert but just tested on my local install and it worked..)

update configuration set configuration_value = "true" where configuration_key = "DOWN_FOR_MAINTENANCE"
