locating specific home page image/links (currently dead links)

Hi all, I have a little bit of experience in Zen Cart and am attempting to do some minor tweaks/upgrades to my store. I am running v1.5.0. Since the cart was previously built by someone else (who I no longer have contact with) it's been a bit daunting trying to figure out what's what.

My site is here: www.cultivatedr e e f.com (spaces added to prevent search engines from indexing this post).

My first order of business is taking care of a few dead links, specifically the "about us" and "stay alive guarantee" text links just above the footer, as well as the big "frag pack" button toward the bottom/center area.

I can't seem to locate exactly where the frag button is drawing the link from, and have spent the last hour+ going through the Zen cart admin panel + FTP searching for it. These 3 pages all exist (and are functioning properly), but for some reason the paths on the home page that are outlined above are pointing to dead links. Existing (working) pages are located here:

Frag packs:
http://cultivatedr e e f.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=26 (spaces added to prevent search engines from indexing this post).

About Us:
http://cultivatedre e f.com/index.php?main_page=page&id=2 (spaces added to prevent search engines from indexing this post).

Stay Alive Guarantee:
http://cultivatedr e ef.com/index.php?main_page=page&id=8 (spaces added to prevent search engines from indexing this post).

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

You will do better using the Developers Tool Kit in the admin to search for the code in the files. Sometimes a link is defined in pieces with the php code having something like> <a href="SOME_LINK_DEFINE" target="....When using the tool kit, start with pieces of what you are looking for rather than trying an entire phrase or link.

Re: locating specific home page image/links (currently dead links)

It appears that those links (and only those) have been redirected by some sort of URL rewiting mod. Is there an admin option to turn the rewriter off ?

Right here. That doesn't appear in a stock Zencart Installation.

Re: locating specific home page image/links (currently dead links)

wow, this stuff is confusing! sometimes i feel like you're almost better off starting from scratch than trying to play with someone's existing work.

screenshot of "seo urls" settings: http://i589.photobucket.com/albums/ss336/ryanpatrickoconnor/screenshot2.jpg

alternatively, here is the plain text of the "seo urls" settings:

  • Enable SEO URLs? false
  • Add cPath to product URLs? false
  • Add category parent to begining of URLs? true
  • Filter Short Words 0
  • Output W3C valid URLs (parameter string)? true
  • Enable SEO cache to save queries? true
  • Enable product cache? true
  • Enable categories cache? true
  • Enable manufacturers cache? true
  • Enable articles cache? true
  • Enable information cache? true
  • Enable automatic redirects? true
  • Choose URL Rewrite Type Rewrite
  • Enter special character conversions
  • Remove all non-alphanumeric characters? false
  • Reset SEO URLs Cache false
  • Enter pages to allow rewrite index, product_info, products_new, products_all, featured_products, specials, contact_us, conditions, privacy, reviews, shippinginfo, faqs_all, site_map, gv_faq, discount_coupon, page, page_2, page_3, page_4

I tried turning the first setting (enable seo URLs) to "true", as well as deleting all of the entered data for the last option (enter pages to allow rewrite)... no dice. also, i don't see anything in here that applies specifically to the 3 pages that i'm having issues with. any ideas?

you're always better off starting from scratch than trying to play with someone's existing work. Fixed that for you .

Sorry, I've never used an 'SEO' mod, so I don't know what you need to do, except maybe uninstall it if possible.

Maybe those three links have been hard-coded into a file? Try what dbltoe suggested and put a part of the seo'd version of the url link into the toolkit to search and see if you can find anything

Re: locating specific home page image/links (currently dead links)

funny, i spent 10 minutes trying to find a download for the "developers kit" before realizing it's pre-installed in the tools page

i ran a search for the "frag pack" link in question, found a "define_main_page.php" file that's tucked away and using this link... opened the php in notepad, manually changed the link to a working one.. bam, done! 3 hours later, 1 link fixed, LOL! 3 hours or not, it feels glorious getting things fixed after pulling your hair out.

thanks everyone. i'm sure there are more issues coming very soon, gonna be a long night!

used the same method to fix the other broken text links in question from my original post.
