Customers get thrown out of the ordering process

Hi there,

We've been running a copy of zen-cart 1.3.9h for about half a year now, and every now and then we had complaints by the customers that they get thrown back to the shoppingcart after trying to confirm their payment method. At first I thought this was a problem with cookies, but since we've had a little discount action going down this week, with the according increase in orders, a lot more complaints about this problem have been coming in.

Any help or pointers are much appriciated.
