Paypal Express not sending order details

Hi There,

I am running 1.3.9a and never managed to find a fix to that issue:

When a client gets to the checkout process and select to checkout with PayPal Express no item names are being sent to the Paypal website.

The client sees only the total he needs to pay

We don't use any taxes and there is no "specials" module that effects the total price.
Since day one, the Paypal express module only received the total price.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I believe there were several improvements to that (and other) parts of EC between 1.3.9a and 1.3.9h.
Upgrading to at least 1.3.9h would help a lot.

Additionally, the problem might be related to currency configuration, such as conflicts between the store's default currency and the currency settings in your paypal module, and your default currency's exchange rate value.

My final resort will be to upgrade to 1.3.9h. We have made lots of modification 2 years back and non of changes was recorded.

As for the currency. What are the default settings that I should have in order for that to work.

My current settings are:
Localization ->currencies -> Australian Dollar (AUD), Value:1.000000

Configuration -> my store ->Switch To Default Language Currency (false).
Currency Conversion Ratio (1.05)
module -> payment->paypal express ->Transaction Currency(Selected Currency)

A text-file-comparison tool like winmerge can very quickly show you the files you've changed, so you can easily merge your changes into the newer version's files.

I have used Winmerge many times. I am more worried about all the addones we have installed and if they will be still compatible.
I may be solving one issue by creating many more.

There were numerous updates to the EC code between 1.3.9a and 1.3.9h. That was more than two years ago. And if I recall correctly several of them dealt with line-item and subtotal calculation issues such as what your logs reveal.

While I can appreciate that you've made many customizations to your site and upgrading requires a bit of care, it is an important step in dealing with addressing the problems you stated you wish to solve here.

I have started the updating process. It is a painful one. I have updated from '1.3.9a' to '1.3.9b' and the problem seems to stay the same.

Once I have jumped from '1.3.9d' to '1.3.9e' the PayPal Express issue was fixed.:clap:

I strongly recommend that you complete the process of getting to at least v1.3.9h
