New install - custom template set up issue

Hi. I have just followed this tutorial (http://www.zen-cart.com/content.php?180-how-do-i-create-a-new-custom-template) to get me on my way with my first template. It's on a clean install of zencart, this is the first thing I have done.

I may not have an issue here, but this isn't what I was expecting it to look like using the new/blank template. Is this correct? (Please remove X from the address)

By following those directions, your site appears as it should
There are many color variances on purpose to allow finding them in the stylesheet easily

It looks like that because you copied the template_default stylesheet and maybe other files to your custom template folders. The Classic green template that you saw when you first installed Zencart isn't the default template even though it is enabled by default. It's a sample custom template. If you want to start customizing from there, copy the stylesheets from classic/css to your custom folders.
