Problem using Authorize.net VPOS

Hello,

I signed up for an Authorize.net card present account through the link in Zen Cart Admin payments module. When I go to use the VPOS within the Authorize.net site I cannot process any card payments. I get error 185, " This transaction cannot be processed." After losing the weekend trying to get support at Authorize.net to fix this problem, they finally told me to contact you as my account has been identified as improperly configured at set up, and that a new account will likely need to be set up. Is there anything that can be done and/or how do I go about getting this taken care of?

Thank you

Re: Problem using Authorize.net VPOS

Anything that needs fixing inside your Authorize.net account must be done by calling Authorize.net directly.
The people at Zen Cart don't actually "set up" your accounts: that is done by the staff at Authorize.net.

So, call Authorize.net back and ask them to fix your account. If they tell you to call Zen Cart, tell them that Zen Cart was only the referral for the account, and that you need to speak with your Account Manager to fix the account.

Re: Problem using Authorize.net VPOS

Ok so I did that and here is the conversation:

Chat Transcript
An Authorize.Net representative will assist you momentarily. For your security please don’t send your credit card, social security number or transaction key.
You are currently at position number 1 in the queue. An Authorize.net representative will assist you shortly. We appreciate your patience.
Hello, my name is Jason D. How may I assist you today?
Me: Hi, I have been trying to get an issue resolved where VPOS is not able to process transactions from me
Me: last I was told was to contact the place where I signed up for Authorize.net and so I did, here is their response:
Me: Anything that needs fixing inside your Authorize.net account must be done by calling Authorize.net directly.

Jason D: All right, I do show that this is a card present account, and the VPOS system is through Authorize.net directly. What happens when you attempt a transaction?
Me: I get the error message saying "This transaction cannot be processed." (185) this is on swiped and manual entries and I have even attempted reinstalling the active x
Me: both test and live btw
Me: and tried with different computers and internet services
Jason D: All right, an error 185 means: Response Reason Code: 185

Response Reason Text: This transaction cannot be processed.

Other Suggestions: Merchant is not configured for VPOS.

Let me see if that is something we can resolve. One moment please.
Me: ty
Jason D: Are you using ZEN cart as a 3rd party POS, or were you going to use VPOS to swipe your cards?
Me: VPOS directly
Jason D: All right, and what is the model number for the swipe device you are using?
Me: i don't have it here but it is approved, it is idmb 133 something , the one ending in BM
Jason D: Okay, so you are able to log into the VPOS correct?
Me: idmb 335133 BM
Me: yes and i see the screen and the swipe even fills the form out but doesn't submit
Me: nor when i manually type it in
Me: submit just returns the error in red under the first banner
Jason D: Thank you, I'll be just a few more moments.
Me: k
Jason D: When reviewing everything further, it looks like your reseller was recently set up to enable CP accounts. Unfortunately, it looks like something wasn't set up right when this account was created, and isn't something that can be fixed within the account. You will need to contact your reseller to create a new CP account so that you can be properly enabled for VPOS. This account will need to be closed. I do apologize for the inconvenience, and wish we had a better solution, but it doesn't look like there are any other options available.
Me: hmm ok well back to them i guess.... ty

FYI - I moved this discussion to the Security Reports area so that it isn't public.

Re: Problem using Authorize.net VPOS

Clarification:

Zen Cart is a reseller of Authorize.net

HOWEVER, unlike traditional reseller relationships, Zen Cart doesn't actually DO the account setups or act as account managers. Our relationship with Authorize.net is more of a "referral" relationship. As such, the accounts are managed by the reseller department at Authorize.net

Sorry that this makes things confusing for you. We don't mean to make this complicated.
However, there truly is nothing that the staff at Zen Cart can do to fix this issue.

You also contacted us using the Contact Us form, and we'll forward that email to one of our contacts at Authorize.net to hopefully encourage them to contact you for assistance.

In the meantime, if you want to escalate the issue faster, call Authnet back and explain that you need the reseller/sales department to fix your account.

Re: Problem using Authorize.net VPOS

Hi, just following up. After finally breaking down the ivory tower over at the authorize.net offices with the help of the information you provided, someone was able to help me delete the "defective" account and set up a new one. If anyone is having an issue like this, don't bother calling merchant support if you know how to plug in a machine, that is about all they know how to help you with. Call the sales or affiliate support numbers, they route you properly instead of giving you the endless run around.

Thanks DrByte, issue resolved!
