Checkout page Refresh after Selecting the country

I have been loosing a lot of customers as the checkout page on my site has problems as stated below:

1. When I enter all the details and the credit cards details and check the checkbox same as shipping address the is refreshed and the credit card details are blank. A normal customer might not notice this and leaves the cart.

2. While checkout if I change the country at any point of time the page gets refreshed and again the payment details entered by the customers go blank.

I want the entries entered by the customer stay on the page whenever the page refreshes during the fetching data from the database as it is seen on all other shopping cart.

What checkout-related mods do you have installed ? A link to the site would help, too.

The checkout mod is the default checkout mod with zen cart.

Well then I'm into serious trouble since the developer who had worked on it never documented anything regarding this. I'm open to change the checkout page too. And I tried with fast checkout but it did not install with success and the site had to be taken out. Can anyone suggest a way out of this problem?

I did switch to other themes and the checkout system changed completely so yes this is a different checkout system. After researh I found about a ajax script which prevents page refresh while loading http://www.w3schools.com/asp/asp_ajax_database.asp
But the problem is even this is not working.
