Custom jewelry mulitple options? Best way?

When a order is placed is the default to show the complete order in alpha order or in the order items were added to cart?

sorry to be asking so many questions as posting so much ... But Little League is starting up in a couple of weeks and I really need to have this completely working and ready to help the kids raise money.

You would have one product (bracelet or whatever) added to cart at a time, with its selected charms. The charms will be listed in the cart and invoice in the order they are displayed on the product page, not alphabetically or by selection sequence. For another bracelet, the customer will select charms and add to cart again; each bracelet will be displayed separately in cart and invoice, unless the attributes are identical.
There is no technical website need to place a limit on keychain length, only what practical limit you want to make. Charm selection as I described could be reasonably unlimited (subject to how many quantity choices of each charm you display).

Are you referring to if I set the charms as attributes? .... or if I list everything as individual regular products?

If attributes.... is there a way around the issue with them choosing more then 1 of the same attribute? For example if I want to customize a bracelet for myself with my initials... I would need LLL....would I only be allowed to add 1 L to my bracelet? :blink:

Ok so I still don't have a correct way of doing this. I think maybe I need to look at it the different way I asked about before....
If I add them all to the site as individual products, is there a easy way to have a page that shows the order above, with text boxes below that they could fill in to describe how they want the item put together?

Build a Bracelet :
Product is Bracelet Strap : Choose Color
Charm 1 (some way of showing all charms, droplist ...?)
Charm 2 (some way of showing all charms, droplist ...?)
Charm 3 (some way of showing all charms, droplist ...?)
Charm 4 (some way of showing all charms, droplist ...?)
Charm 5 (some way of showing all charms, droplist ...?)
Charm 6 (some way of showing all charms, droplist ...?)
Charm 7 (some way of showing all charms, droplist ...?)

Build a Ring :
Product is Ring Strap : Choose Color
Charm 1 (some way of showing all charms, droplist ...?)
Charm 2 (some way of showing all charms, droplist ...?)

Does that even make sense from a Zen point of view? Would the charms still be attributes? If the same list of charms is available for every Charm 1-7 or 1-2 then they could choose the same charm in any "slot" right?

Ok, I think I did it. Here is what I did. Please look it over so that maybe you guys with more experience will be able to foresee any problems.

I created the Category : Build a Bracelet
Product : Bracelet
Attributes :
Color : Blue
Black
Charm 1 : Football BLING $3.00
Football Large $2.00
Football Small $2.00

Charm 2 : Football BLING $3.00
Football Large $2.00
Football Small $2.00

Charm 3 : Football BLING $3.00
Football Large $2.00
Football Small $2.00

I placed a order for a blue strap with a small football as the first charm, a bling as the 2nd, and another small as the third.
All checks out fine except one thing.....
When there are over 100 charms to choose from, how can they see them to know which to choose???

I need a way to have the charms show on every page?
I will also need to create the same 100+ charms for every item and every "slot". Which is time consuming but if it works, then I don't mind doing it. For example, I will need to create the exact same drop menu for Bracelets/Charm 1, Bracelets/Charm 2 ... all the way to Bracelets/Charm 7 .... then again for Rings (easier only 2 fit), Hair Clips (easy as well only 3-4), and Keychains (I can make easy by limiting).

I seem to remember someone saying you can add images to attributes, I will look into that, but with that many are we talking a mess?

So my only concern now .... how to show the charms to they know which to click on when building a bracelet or whatever.
Better to have a page with all showing on some sort of grid type and give each their own unique inv#? To me that's confusing....or I can list them by name and hope they get it? .... that just as scary.

Yes you can name the option "please choose" or "none" or ????
Just set it to be default in the controller

Ok I can do that.... I have one more question....

Is it something that I need to add ALL of them (attributes/Values/Charms) at once or can I add some now and always add to all of them later with more? If I add what I want .. to ALL of them by creating the first list and copying...will it cause problems later if I want to add more and will I have to add them individually then?
