Custom Logo not appearing

I am following along with the tutorial on how to replace the default logo. I added a folder custom at /includes/templates and in the custom folder I have a images folder.

I created an additional folder named custom under /includes/languages/english and in that I put header.php

I modified the lines for the header logo and saved it. When I display the store page - nothing changes.

I should mention that I am testing this mod locally before doing it to the store on the web.

Can someone tell me what is wrong? Is a more exact path necessary rather than just the name of the logo file? I did try the last one with no effect....but thought I would mention it.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Is your logo image in this folder?

Re: Custom Logo not appearing

yes it is. It is also a png format file (don't think it that would make a difference but I thought I would mention it)

Re: Custom Logo not appearing

Did you use your admin's Tools->Template Selection to select "custom" as your active template?

P.S. There's more to adding just the 'custom' folder to your language folder. See this FAQ for details: http://www.zen-cart.com/content.php?180-how-do-i-create-a-new-custom-template

Re: Custom Logo not appearing

No - I didn't think of checking template selection. When I went in to check it, I got a HTTP Error 500 (Internal Server Error): An unexpected condition was encountered while the server was attempting to fulfill the request.

The error says the page may be down for maintenance. So now I need to research this problem with the local site.

Re: Custom Logo not appearing

I looked at the Apache logs and found these two errors -

[Thu Nov 08 11:55:12 2012] [error] [client 127.0.0.1] client denied by server configuration: C:/Websites/armkandies/store/includes/languages/english/custom/header_3pc1fd6q00.php

[Thu Nov 08 11:55:43 2012] [error] [client 127.0.0.1] File does not exist: C:/Websites/armkandies/favicon.ico

The second message is true - that file doesn't exist. But the first one I haven't a clue

Re: Custom Logo not appearing

/includes/languages/english/custom/[B]header_3pc1fd6q00.php[/B]

That is not a normal file...I would be suspicious unless you are aware of where it came from

Re: Custom Logo not appearing

I don't have a clue - the test store is whatever I downloaded from Zen Cart. I unzipped and uploaded the files to the main server and then configured my laptop for the test server. I haven't made any modifications except for the ones outlined in this post.

Re: Custom Logo not appearing

whatever I downloaded from Zen Cart. I unzipped
Look to see if that file exists - - as it is in "custom" it is not part of what you downloaded
Check what you have expanded also

Re: Custom Logo not appearing

The only file in the custom directory is header.php - it is the file that I edited for the new logo and template. Should I delete it?

Re: Custom Logo not appearing

I should add that I copied the header.php file originally from the includes/languages/english directory so I could put the name of the logo file in it.

Re: Custom Logo not appearing

I deleted the custom folder and still got the same error. I think I will undo all the template mods and start over.

Re: Custom Logo not appearing

I deleted all the template mods and now I can use the template selector and the 500 error is gone - probably one of the files was corrupted or had bad code. I wll start this mod again be a bit more careful. Thanks for the help (and idea about the template selector).

Re: Custom Logo not appearing

I noticed you said the image was a png..... the header.php file has to be changed to reflect this association change. Default has it set as logo.jpg so you would need to edit that line to reflect you are using a png IE.. logo.png

Just a thought

Re: Custom Logo not appearing

I deleted all the entire folder. I must have missed a step which caused my problems so I will go back to the beginning. Thanks to everyone who responded.

Re: Custom Logo not appearing

If you view the image properties on your site, example on windows: right click > properties you can see the image path, replace the image by following that path.
