Logon Failure "You entered the wrong username or password."

Zen Cart 1.5.1

This is message I am getting when I attempt to log on:

"You entered the wrong username or password."

And that same message was repeated after I cleared the cache.

from adminurrhtcqq/includes/configure.php:

(There was not a directory named admin.
It is named adminurrhtcqq.)

define('HTTP_SERVER', 'http://aimimports.com');
define('HTTPS_SERVER', 'https://aimimports.com');
define('HTTP_CATALOG_SERVER', 'http://aimimports.com');
define('HTTPS_CATALOG_SERVER', 'https://aimimports.com');

define('ENABLE_SSL_ADMIN', 'false');
define('ENABLE_SSL_CATALOG', 'false');

I made sure that the username and password I entered match these.

define('DB_SERVER_USERNAME', '**************');
define('DB_SERVER_PASSWORD', '*************');

from includes/configure.php:

define('HTTP_SERVER', 'http://aimimports.com');
define('HTTPS_SERVER', 'https://aimimports.com');

At the moment I do not have SSL associated with this project.

"2) configure.php files

Two files need to be created on the server. These are the configure.php files that will contain
important information to identify the settings of your particular server and the location of the
files that you just loaded. After they have been created, you will then need to change the
permissions on these files.

For a new install, the simplest way to do this is to rename these two files BEFORE installing:

  • /includes/dist-configure.php

to /includes/configure.php

  • /admin/includes/dist-configure.php
    to /admin/includes/configure.php"

zen-implementation-guide.pdf

(The files named dist-configure.php are still intact in their respective directories)

I am hosting this on GoDaddy and used their "quick install".

There was not a directory named admin.
It is named adminurrhtcqq.

the adminurrhtcqq/includes/configure.php and the includes/configure.php were already set up.

I have changed permissions on the server for these and several other files.

I can access the blank cart

https://www.aimimports.com/catalog

Any help and ideas on what I may have done wrong here ?

Re: Logon Failure "You entered the wrong username or password."

You have to determine what your correct user & pass are...

And once you can access you need to change the name of your admin folder due to having posted it here

Re: Logon Failure "You entered the wrong username or password."

First thank you for your assistance. I think you are correct that I should not assume that.

define('DB_SERVER_USERNAME', '**************');
define('DB_SERVER_PASSWORD', '*************');

  1. Would the correct password and username reside in the configure.php file quoted above?
  2. Can this be changed by editing the configure.php file ?
  3. This password and username quoted matches and works on "myPHPAdmin".
  4. If none of the above where are they changed ?

These are your DB user & DB pass
Not your admin user & pass

Re: Logon Failure "You entered the wrong username or password."

Evidently I am not communicating this very well.

When it was set up in GoDaddy I elected to use the same password for both.

And it is not working. I am getting that message.

How would one retrieve a user name for Zen Cart?

I having a similar issue. I am a total noob and have spent countless hours solving many many many issues I have had (some created by me) on GoDaddy, DreamHost and with Zencart. SO... it appears that I have completely and totally forgotten/lost my UN and PW to log into https://www.mydomain.com/admin and I do not have any idea where in the world I would go to retrieve them. SO... any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Lee

Re: Logon Failure "You entered the wrong username or password."

You could always click the "Forgot Password" link on the admin login screen. That will send a temporary password to the email address you used when you set up the admin account.

... or you could follow the instructions in this FAQ: http://www.zen-cart.com/content.php?44

How would one retrieve a user name for Zen Cart?

If you installed Zen Cart using Go Daddy's Hosting Connections you can recover the admin username and password you setup.

  1. Log into your Go Daddy account.
  2. Click the black "My Account" button at the top left.
  3. Click the "+" next to Web Hosting.
  4. Click Launch next to the hosting account you installed Zen Cart on.
  5. In the Options & Settings area, click Show All under Popular Apps.
  6. On the right, under My Management, click "Manage My Applications".
  7. Locate your Zen Cart installation in the list of installed applications.
  8. Click "View and manage details".
  9. Click the tab for "Admin Settings"
  10. The Admin Name will show.
  11. To see the password click the link for "Show" next to the Admin Password field.

Re: Logon Failure "You entered the wrong username or password."

Thanks to everyone that replied and offered assistance.

This "problem" was created by me. RTFM.

The good news is I do now have access to my Administration page and will have the Zen Car up and running within a few days. Also there were several good replies regarding actions to take if one neglects to document UN and PW. Thanks especially to Kobra and Mike at GoDaddy.

I would refer other with similar problems to review the links posted here. If you are hosted at GoDaddy Mike's tip is valuable.

regards to all.
