Numinix Pinterest Add On Support Thread

I installed this for a client but the return url from Pinterest was not working. It was encoded wrong. Others have posted with the same problem.

Here is the fix. Edit tpl_modules_pin_it_button.php

Replace the following starting at line 27:

<div id="pinitButton" style="display: inline-block; vertical-align: top;"> <a href="http://pinterest.com/pin/create/button/?url=<?php echo urlencode($piniturl); ?>&description=<?php echo urlencode($pinit_name); ?>&media=<?php echo urlencode($pinit_image); ?>" id="PinItButton" class="pin-it-button" count-layout="<?php echo PINTEREST_BUTTON_COUNT; ?>">Pin It</a>

with this:

<?php $piniturl = urlencode($piniturl); $piniturl = str_replace('amp%3B', '', $piniturl); ?> <div id="pinitButton" style="display: inline-block; vertical-align: top;"> <a href="http://pinterest.com/pin/create/button/?url=<?php echo $piniturl; ?>&description=<?php echo urlencode($pinit_name); ?>&media=<?php echo urlencode($pinit_image); ?>" id="PinItButton" class="pin-it-button" count-layout="<?php echo PINTEREST_BUTTON_COUNT; ?>">Pin It</a>

Re: Numinix Pinterest Add On Support Thread

swguy:

If you have installed version 1.2.2 or before of this mod, you have deleted configuration group 0. Please download version 1.3 of this mod and run sql_patches/fix_config_0.sql in admin->tools->Install SQL Patches.

If you have installed this mod and cannot see admin->configuration->Pinterest Pin It Button Configuration, please download version 1.2.2 of this mod and run the uninstall.sql script in admin->tools->install SQL Patches, then download the current version and rerun the install.sql script.

The install.sql script is missing in the current / latest download. Can I use the 1.2.2 install.sql? Thanks.

I tried installing the latest package per your instructions and didn't have any options available in admin for the Pinterest button.

Re: Numinix Pinterest Add On Support Thread

The product posts to Pinterest but the link back to the website is useless.

I don't know whether the plug-in mod or the pinterest website is causing the problem.

The code is putting &amp between the cPath and products_id instead of an actual "&" (cPath=1250_1415_1576_1577&products_id=62285).

Suggestions?

Okay, I see the string replace...it's a fix, but what is causing the & to be replaced with &???

Re: Numinix Pinterest Add On Support Thread

I copied the files over for this add-on, but when I try to install the SQL patches I just get an error message telling me to refresh the page and try again.

Re: Numinix Pinterest Add On Support Thread

In addition, you're supposed to copy the provided lines of code into the file tpl_product_info_display.php. This file doesn't appear anywhere in the system. I see that it says 'any template file you choose,' but how are you supposed to know which template file to choose?

ETA--I see that such a file exists in one of the responsive template directories, so I'm going to take a chance and copy that into my own template directory. The directions for this need to be a bit more specific.

LOL can be confusing but you put the template files "into any template file you choose" meaning the one you installed for your store.

And if the SQL still tells you that then try installing it in the myPHPadmin on your server..sometimes that is what we need to do

Re: Numinix Pinterest Add On Support Thread

But which template file? I have 11 files in the template directory in my custom template. Only three of them seem to have anything to do with products, tpl_modules_main_product_image.php, tpl_modules_product_all_listing.php and tpl_modules_products_new_listing.php.

Find the file: includes/templates/your template/templates/tpl_modules_pin_it_button.php

That is the file you need to add the bit of code to so that it appears on the product page. You may have to , by trial and error (save and test in store) to get it placed where you want it to go.

This is the code:

<!-- Pin It Button BEGIN --> <?php   if (PINTEREST_BUTTON_STATUS == 'true') {      require($template->get_template_dir('/tpl_modules_pin_it_button.php',DIR_WS_TEMPLATE, $current_page_base,'templates'). '/tpl_modules_pin_it_button.php');   }  ?> <!-- Pin It Button END -->

The read me gives you the same information.

Re: Numinix Pinterest Add On Support Thread

I've looked at the readme again and all it says is to add it to the template file of your choice. Here's a cut and paste of the instruction:

Add the following code to any template file(s) you choose (example: includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/templates/tpl_product_info_display.php):

But I have a worse problem now. I was able to upload the sql updates using phpMyadmin, but now all I'm getting when I access the admin side is an error:

<div class="systemError">WARNING: An Error occurred, please refresh the page and try again.

So I can no longer even get into my files. I ran the uninstall.sql patch and it didn't make any difference. I can get into the test site okay, so I'm not totally dead in the water, but it's certainly an inconvenience. How do I get rid of whatever these patches did if the uninstall patch doesn't work?

Re: Numinix Pinterest Add On Support Thread

before adding the SQL to myPHPadmin, how many times did you try to do the SQL in admin area of the store.

When we do that multiple times in admin and get the error then sometimes we also need to run the uninstall SQL there too, to get rid of the code.

So if you ran it in admin 3 times then use the uninstall again 3 times total...see if that helps

Did you backup the database before trying to install this mod? If yes, then you could replace the database with the saved one and reinstall the mods SQL again.

Re: Numinix Pinterest Add On Support Thread

Thanks, I'll try that. No, I had backed up the database last night so I didn't do it again this morning. But I've had a lot of orders since then, so I don't want to do a restore. Yes, I did try the sql patch multiple times, and I wondered at the time if that was a bad idea.

But if I can start up and get into the test installation, it doesn't seem as though the database is the problem. It uses the same one.

Re: Numinix Pinterest Add On Support Thread

Don't we all...I did the same thing loads of times before I finally got it drilled into my head...backup before/label it before and name of mod, then back up when it behaves...sometimes needing to put it into maintenance mode so that only my IP can access while I play with mods and files.

What I don't understand is why the test installation is working without any problem, since it uses the same database.

Operator error, a file got corrupted on upload, depending on host some files tend to upload then get removed by the host spam software due to them wanting the creators to bow to their way only....sorry that was a rant cause I have that happen lots on stores/forums I install for folks.

Also it might just be a cantankerous store. I have my store and another one that is test store...recently I had to remove the test one cause it messed up...it also messed up the main store, how I do not know. Forums do it too, I have several forums on our server that are exactly alike, different databases for each one tooooo and one will misbehave when a mod is added or deleted.

Gremlins.

Re: Numinix Pinterest Add On Support Thread

I thought of a corrupted file, since I have a bad habit of forgetting to change my ftp setting to Text instead of leaving it at the default binary/text setting. But I have only uploaded two files today, and I've gone back and removed both of them. So I don't think that's the problem. It's happened to me before though, and it's one of the first things I thought of and checked.

Re: Numinix Pinterest Add On Support Thread

It finally occurred to me to go look at the server error logs, where I found a bunch of unrelated interesting entries. But this is what's happening when I try to start up the admin site.

Use of uninitialized value in hash element at /usr/local/apache/htdocs/suspended.page/disabled.cgi line 36.
Use of uninitialized value $home in split at /usr/local/apache/htdocs/suspended.page/disabled.cgi line 38.
Use of uninitialized value $home in concatenation (.) or string at /usr/local/apache/htdocs/suspended.page/disabled.cgi line 39.

Any ideas?

Re: Numinix Pinterest Add On Support Thread

Never mind, I've spoken to tech support at my host and they're not seeing any errors coming from my IP address. So it's not a server issue.
