Only 1 catalog item has free shipping. How to set it up?

Hey there,

Using v150 and have the fed ex & ups shipping module installed. I only have 1 item out of my entire product catalog that qualifies for free shipping.

Is there a way to set this up? I tried setting the item as free shipping w/o installing freeshipper or freeoptions but when trying to checkout it says not shipping to this region etc.

I looked at the free options modules but I didn't see that this was the way to go.

Ok I turned on the freeshipper module and that seems to work but when the free shipping item is combined with another non free shipping item this warning pops up:

Your available shipping options have changed. Please re-select your desired shipping method.

Is this just the nature of the beast?

If your selected shipping module is no longer available, you will see this warning ...

Example, add only a Free Shipping product to the cart and go to the checkout and through to at least the Payment page checkout_payment ... then go back to the Catalog and add a Product with shipping ... now go to check out and you will see this warning as the Free Shipping that was previously selected is no longer available so a new choice must be made ...
