flat rate per item

how can i set all my products to have a flat rate of $2.50 shipping per item.
i have the flat rate working but it only is applying to the whole order
i need it to be per item

also on the contact form can i turn off the name field being mandatory? just the name field.

Perhaps what you are really wanting to use the the Item Rate item where you are charging a rate Per Item quantity in the cart?

so if i have 3 items the shipping rate would be $7.50 (3 x $2.50 each) right?

Right ... Install Item Rate item shipping module and set it to 2.50 ... now it is $2.50 * quantity of what ever Product(s) is/are in the cart ...

i don't know what i am doing wrong but it is very inconsistent - sometimes it says free shipping, other times i have 3 items but it is only putting in $5.00 instead of $7.50 and it says Best Way? In my admin, modules, shipping, i have everything red except flat rate is yellow and per item is green. My per item is set to true, 2.50, nothing in handling fee, tax class is none, tax basis is shipping, shipping zone is set to none and sort order is zero.

Do you have these Products marked as:
Always Free Shipping
Virtual
Have an Attribute with a Download on it
Have the Model start with GIFT

I had to reinstall the shopping cart and in so doing i am now not able to get the per item working.
in the shipping module, i have only PER ITEM setup as True, 2.50 shipping, no handling, tax level none, tax basis shipping, shipping zone none and order 0.
i have the testing product setup as Product is Virtual: Yes, Skip Shipping Address
Warning: This product is marked - Free Shipping and Skips Shipping Address
No shipping will be requested when all products in the order are Virtual Products

Always Free Shipping: No, Normal Shipping Rules

if i change this product No, Shipping Address Required - then i get this message
' Your available shipping options have changed. Please re-select your desired shipping method.'

Your help would be so appreciated... it is getting very frustrating.

If a Product is Virtual, it does NOT need to be marked as Always Free Shipping as Virtual Products already are Free Shipping ...

NOTE: If you make these changes to the Product while testing an order, you could trigger the message on the shipping ...

If you use Products that are marked Always Free Shipping then you need to install the FREE SHIPPING! freeshipper shipping module

Is it possible to put a flat rate shipping price on (1) or (2) particular items?
