Querry limit with Ipowerweb

I am using Ipowerwab as my hosting company.
I am working on my web site that uses Zen-Cart. When I do to many updates in the admin and/or web site, I get this error.
"WARNING: An Error occurred, please refresh the page and try again."

And when I try logging on to Ipowerweb I get this error.
"#1226 - User 'hayman' has exceeded the 'max_questions' resource (current value: 75000)"

I have to wait about 30 minutes before I can get back to work on it.
Ipowerweb wants to charge me an extra $20.00 per month to raise the limit.
Anyone know of a hosting company that doesn't charge a rediculas price for that?

Re: Querry limit with Ipowerweb

As for other hosts, click on the "Services" link at the top of this page, and then the Hosting link.

As for short term fix to the problem, see this discussion: http://www.zen-cart.com/showthread.php?24089-Rotating-Db-Users

Thanks. I've seen other bad reviews from Ipower. I'll do some checking around

Whichever one is doing the most queries ... which is usually the storefront. Nothing wrong with doing it in both.

Re: Querry limit with Ipowerweb

I was also told that I need to change my hosting that uses a VPS instead of shared hosting package

Re: Querry limit with Ipowerweb

The dependability of shared versus VPS is really the result of how the hosting company operates. Many hosts will allow programs with known vulnerabilities (FrontPage being one) to be run and/or load so many users on a share that the share slows considerably.

I would ask any host that you are considering, whether they have shares for Zen Cart. They may (as do we) have shares that are loaded with only what is needed to properly run Zen Cart in a PCI-compliant environment.

It's like you own a BMW. Wouldn't you thoroughly check out a mechanic's shop to see if they even knew where the gas cap was?

$20 a month will get you some powerful hosting elsewhere. I doubt you need to spend that much but, make sure you don't throw it in the bit bucket.

Re: Querry limit with Ipowerweb

Right. A VPS is NOT the magic pill to anything. Usually it's just a crafty upsell so the tech guy doesn't need to actually tune the server to support customers using dynamic software like Zen Cart.

Better to find another host who can handle the load that a typical Zen Cart site requires. There are dozens of great alternatives that cost the same price but offer far better servers and far better support. See the Hosting options on the Services tab at the top of this page for a few options.
