Limit "new listing" to a specific category

Is there a way to limit "new listing" to a specific category by using some php code in the web url?

Something to the effect of when you click on a category with products, below the products you have a "New Products For December", is there perhaps a static link that I can use to do the same, but simply to list all of the products?

I have tried different variations of the [storename]/index.php?main_page=products_new and trying to add the path to the specific category ID I want the listing for after that, i.e. [storename]/index.php?main_page=products_new&cPath=91_870_880 but have not succeeded thus far.

Or perhaps even a custom search string which will list only the new products for a specific category or search phrase.

Thanks for your thoughts and help.

Re: Limit "new listing" to a specific category

Sorry, I meant "all" the "new" products of a "specific" category for the month. So if my tree looks something like this:

Main---
|_Hand Tools
|_Power Tools
|_Garden Tools

When I add products to all of these categories and click "new products" it will list ALL the new products added for the month, I however just want to be able to add a static link for each of those categories which would list only the new products for each category. So a link I would make for "Hand Tools" would only list the "new" products for that category and not ALL the new products added.

Thanks for the response! Xmas greets btw :D

That sounds like how a default listing is

See it in action HERE

Re: Limit "new listing" to a specific category

No, not like that. If you click on "New Products ..." it lists every single new product regardless of which category you put them in. I want only one specific category to be listed, so if I make a static link called "DVD Movies" I want only the dvd movies to be listed in the same style as the "new products" are listed as.

Re: Limit "new listing" to a specific category

You can edit your database (Backup First) and alter the date added for all but those you want listed

Then admin > config > maximum values > New Product Listing - Limited to ...

BTW There are NO static links as all are dynamically created

Re: Limit "new listing" to a specific category

No sorry, but that is not what I need. I don't think you are grasping the concept I'm trying to portray across to you. Let me further try to explain what I have in a different method.

If you go to the following link:

[storename]/index.php?main_page=products_new

It will list every new product added to every single category, what I would like is something like this:

[storename]/index.php?main_page=products_new&cPath=91_870_880

where "&cPath=91_870_880" = a specific category I decide on. So it will then therefore only select the "new products" added within only that category, being "&cPath=91_870_880".

Do you understand what I mean? I can then make a static link for my site to send the url to:

[storename]/index.php?main_page=products_new&cPath=91_870_880

and then in essence only display the new products for "&cPath=91_870_880" and so forth and make different links for different categories to display "new products" for each category instead of the default "new products" for ALL categories.
