Trouble with shipping fee based on price not ALWAYS working correctly

I am having a problem with my shipping module. I recently had my website upgraded from 1.3.9 to the latest version of Zen Cart (1.5.1) and had the Fast and Easy Checkout added (I paid a professional to do this. I did not make a mess by doing it myself :blink:). Ever since this upgrade (in October) I have had problems with the shipping not always being charged to all countries. I am charging a flat rate based on price and it used to work perfectly. The rates are free to CA and US, but a scale based on shopping cart total for International.

The stumper is that when you are on my site and you use the shipping estimator, the quote is correct for all countries based on all prices. But, when the customer pays .. sometimes they are not charged any shipping and where the shipping fee should be .. it says (shipping can not be calculated at this time). For example I recently sold to Australia twice in one day. One customer was charged shipping the other was not (free). This also happened with Switzerland recently. And .. this has happened both when they paid onsite and when they chose to leave my site and pay through Paypal. So, I have not been able to find a pattern that would suggest where the problem is.

I have gone over this many times myself and I just can't figure out what is wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There is nothing on your Checkout to "force" a selection of a Valid shipping method so if I do not pick it Zone Rate $10.00 ... I would get Free Shipping ...

Hmm .. Thank you for having a look, Ajeh. But, I am not sure how to "force" a selection. When I log in and go through the checkout, it seems to give me no choice. The shipping is already clicked and chosen. And the fee is correct. I does not allow me to "unselect" the shipping fee. That's why I can't figure out why the system is charging one Switzerland customer and not another. I will insert a screen shot showing my cart when I am logged in with a UK address. Can you explain what you mean by "forcing" the selection? Or how I can force the selection?

And if I chose the "Checkout with Paypal" option. The next screen shows the correct shipping fee. And when I land on Paypal's site the fee is there. How in the world is it charging some addresses and not others within the same country? It does not give me free shipping when I enter an International address .. ??

Help. I've had to ship for free to Switzerland, New Zealand and Australia lately. :-(

You are using an add on that is not testing the shipping selection correctly from what I can see and if you try to check out where Zone is not selected, such as with something or another that is giving Free Shipping ... then change your cart for something that is not Free shipping then it is not rechecking whether or not a shipping method was selected ...

I do not use that add on, but somewhere it is not completing the proper tests on shipping so people slip through ...

I believe that this is about the only item that has free shipping. It is an item that they have to add to their cart (on top of the items that they are already purchasing) in order to get air shipping internationally instead of ground. When I add it to my cart and remove all other items, it still charges me the correct shipping fee to UK based on the value of my cart. It still charges me $10 shipping which is what I want it to do. I can not seem to make it give me free shipping to the UK.

I see that you are right that is is not doing something correctly and a few addresses seem to be slipping through. But, how can I find the problem to fix it? Can you tell me what you added and then removed to get it to do this?

I just wanted a one page checkout and an option so that people do not have to leave my site to pay on Paypal. Zen Cart's default checkout is too long and leaving to pay on Paypal causes some customers to leave the checkout completely. Can anyone suggest an alternative addon that will work properly?

You would have to compare a clean Zen Cart v1.5.1 with your customized version and see what your add on is not doing ...

I do not use that add on and really cannot say off the top of my head what custom code needs to be added to fix this ...
