Product listing columns - how do I get 3 products inline rather than vertical

Hello, I am trying to get my products to display across the page in threes rather than one above the other, I have followed tutorial from the template creator, it states to go to configuration > product listing > columns per row, but this option is not there and i am stumped. Many thanks in anticipation of a reply :)

The description for that template says the Column Grid plugin is included. Was there a SQL patch included with the template that you neglected to install ?
