How are you identifying your wholesale customers?

Many thanks for your reply
The wholesale customers are the same, justy opon checkout I have one shipping for dropship customers, but want to add on another for wholesale customers, so i can charge a courier fee and a handling charge per item.

Thanks Sean :)

Sean, we understand what you want to do, so perhaps I'll rephrase Ajeh's question.

If the wholesale customers are the same (as the retail customers), by what mechanism do you (and consequently, the checkout page) have that will identify whether it is a wholesale or a retail customer that is doing the checkout?

This is the first, and probably the biggest hurdle you are facing before even considering the actions to be taken when the customer type has been identified.

Cheers

Ahh I apologise, no we are a wholesale website, but I use per item for my dropship customers to charge my shipping cost plus dropship fee, but I need another that will work for my customers that buy in bulk, so we can charge a bulk courier fee and handling charge per item. Many Thanks Sean :)

OK, same question applies though. What mechanism/method do you have that would identify the 'bulk' sales from the 'normal/dropship' sales?

Note: This may seem a silly question to you, but we don't know your store, so you have to treat us like idiots before we can be of much help. We won't be offended.

Re: Extra Shipping Module

ps. If Ajeh re-responds please be advised that she is much cleverer than I am with this type of issue. Take careful note of anything she tells you, even if/when it contracts anything I say. :)

Ahhh sorry, Once they proceed to the first page of the checkout process I have 2 options, the first for dropship orders and the second for wholesale orders only ( it is this one I want to add a small handling charge too).

Hope this helps. Regards SEAN :)

What shipping module are you using for the 'wholesale orders'?

OK, I've noted that this module allows you to enter a 'shipping' fee. I suggest you use this field as a combined shipping and handling, which will give a cost per cart, so you'll then need to find a suitable place in the code to determine how many items are in the cart and multiply that by your defined cost before outputting it as a quote. Shouldn't be too difficult.

Cheers

I have been playing with Table Rate Shipping thinking that would work, as it lets you charge a handling fee per box, soo I tried putting 3 items in basket, but it only charges one £2. Its driving me bonkers :)

Thanks Sean
