Coupon is not valid for items in cart

Hello,

I am getting an error that the coupon is not valid for items in cart. The restrictions set are for 'Top' of categories 'Allow' and no categories or products 'Deny' so basically everything in the catalogue should be eligible. Any help would be appreciated.

Coupon Start/end date?
Coupon Zone restrictions?

Not sure if these will produce the same error message or not though.

Just 2 possibilities of the top of me head :)

Thanks for the reply, RodG. Dates are okay, zone restriction is none, and product restrictions are category 'Top' to 'Allow' and nothing else.

I am going to flush the db tables related to coupons and then see what happens. This seemed to help an Italian user who was having problems with coupons.

Nope, I cleared the data in the db and started from scratch, setting up a new coupon intended to go to new signups with their welcome email. But, same message during checkout, "coupon is not valid for items in cart" - any help would be greatly appreciated.

Do you still have a Restriction set to have:
Top ALLOW

If so, delete that ...

Now try your Discount Coupon ... does it work?

That did it, Ajeh! THANK YOU! The only concern would be if a restricted discount were needed by the client in the future. I hope it works with a category other than 'Top' selected, because I sure don't feel like testing it now.

You can add restricted ... it is just when everything is allowed, do not use Top ALLOW ...
