Shipping cost on a per item basis only??, is it possible?

Hey Everyone,
my client wants to base his shipping costs on a per item basis only.
meaning weight, price, quantity are not factors. each item would need to have it's shipping cost set individually. is there any way to do that?

perhaps diff between gross and net price???

to be clear, for example
lamp = cost is $18, shipping adds $4.00
chair = cost is $15, shipping adds $2.00
rug = cost is $30, but shipping is only $3.75

You might try the Per Unit perweightunit that uses the Product Weight as the cost per item ...

So set Product Weight to 1.25 and the shipping is $1.25 each and 1.75 and shipping is $1.75 each ...

NOTE: be sure to raise the Maximum Weight to 5000 and set the Tare Rates to 0:0 ...

that option came up while discussing so hopefully we can hide all instances of weight from being displayed to the customer,
is the possible?, to hide the weight since it's not really weight

Go to the Catalog ... Product Types ... EDIT ... and turn off the display of shipping weight ...

1= on: Items Weight Amount
2= on: Items Weight Amount, but no weight when 0
3= on: Items Amount

1st digit Left or Right
2nd and 3rd digit Sort Order
4th digit number of breaks after
