Clone products_new page for custom search

I am trying to build a custom search function, using dynamic drop down boxes to search car parts. Year, make, model, engine. Once my search is done, it creates an array of all the products_model numbers of the parts I want to list.

I am figuring the best way to display all the parts that match my search is to clone the products_new template. Can someone point me in the right direction on where I would find the query that populates the products_new page?

I originally thought of creating a URL pointing to the advanced_search page with all my products_models listed as $_GET's but that turned into too much trouble.

Thanks for any/all help!!!

Rick

Re: Clone products_new page for custom search

Not until you pointed it out to me. But, I don't think it will work for my needs. It drills down via categories, while my products are typically in the same category, but with different years/makes/models. I do appreciate the info!

Thanks!
