mail.log shows hundreds of sends to same email. How to do I stop it?

Hello,

We are experiencing an issue where the zen cart mail.log file is showing repeated attempts to send an email: (hundreds of times per hour)
Feb 10 23:19:07 company sm-mta[18244]: r1AMbEGR013689: to=[email protected], delay=05:41:53, xdelay=00:04:13, mailer=esmtp, pri=3181939, relay=hotmai.com. [65.55.39.12], dsn=4.0.0, stat=Deferred: Connection timed out with hotmai.com.

Notice the missing L in hotmai.com

It seems once it fails it just keeps re-attempting.

How do I shut this behavior off? (Or limit it?)

ZenCart only controls the passing of mail off to your mail server
You will have to address this using what ever controls you have for managing your mail server
