Looking for help with DVD site revamp

Hi, we've been running a zen cart site now for several years but recently we've stopped using Paypal and are looking for an alternative (Worldpay?). We'd also like to give the site a complete make-over. Can anyone help? We're a London UK based Cult DVD releasing company.

Re: Looking for help with DVD site revamp

WorldPay can be problematic...

SagePay is better - Decide which SagePay option you wish to use (SagePay FORM is the easiest to set up and cheapest to operate), then go establish an account at SagePay and go through all the hoops to link it to your merchant bank.

Then, go get the SagePay FORM module from CEON.NET

(Sadly, Conor Kerr who owned CEON has passed away - but I believe you can still order and download that module).

When you say "make-over" - what exactly do you mean?

Do you require technical expertise in performing an UPGRADE?
Do you require graphic design skills?
Do you need a template built?

More detail please...

Thanks for the feedback. Can you let me know why you think WorldPay can be problematic? I was recommended them by another UK based DVD retailer.

I'm looking for somebody to look at the site and tell me how it can be improved both stylistically and technically.

Is that retailer using zencart? If so, what VERSION of zencart?

The current module for Worldpay is stated as compatible with ZC version 1.3.9. if you want a "re-vamp" then I would say it is essential that an upgrade to 1.5.1 is part of that activity.

The current Worldpay module may not be compatible.

Wordpay frequently alters their callback systems - not a problem in itself, but when they do this, it will require modifications to your installation. Whether there is someone around to do this for you is unclear. The author of the current module is Phil Clarke - so maybe contact him.

If you have had the site for "several years" my first question is - WHAT VERSION of zencart is being used? If it is an old version, then you could be in a precarious situation. Versions prioir to 1.3.9x are vulnerable to serious hacking...

So before you even think of cosmetic changes (the "nice to have" features) think of the "need to have" ones first.

Upgrading can be straight-forward - or extremely complex - it will depend on the level of customisation.

The only way to establish where (on a scale of costs) your project lies is for a full audit to be done on the site - and this in itself takes time and requires some level of skill and knowledge.

No, they're not using Zen Cart. If that's the reason it can be tricky, point taken.

If anyone is interested in looking at out site and offering suggestions to make it better and actually start to take payments again, I'm all ears. We can obviously pay somebody who can do a good job.

Re: Looking for help with DVD site revamp

Login to your zencart ADMIN AREA and under the TOOLS menu, click SERVER/VERSION info. Then come back and tell us what VERSION of ZC is being reported.

Re: Looking for help with DVD site revamp

A look at the site suggests a number of "hard-coded" insertions, that may or may not be "challenging" to remove (or configure properly).

It looks like that while the CORE files may have been upgraded to comply with ZC 1.3.9h, the CUSTOM files (all your template stuff) has not been upgraded. The indicators for this are a couple of very old CSS files that include CSS that was eradicated many years ago.

The simplest and fastest "fix" is probably the installation of a new template and an upgrade to zc-1.5.1.

There may be some hidden surprises, so one would need to look carefully "under the hood" before a price can be determined.
