Sales Message Goes Here still showing in Google

Although I have edited includes/languages/english/header.php to remove the text "sales message goes here" this text shows up in the google results when my site name is entered into google. How do I change what shows up in google as a description of my site?

You have to allow time for it to update.

Other than that, leave it for 24 hours and see what happens. If no change come back here.

It has been several days and still shows wrong in google. Go to google and type in miners junction.

I don't see the symptoms you describe, but I do see other stuff that needs changing:
a) You probably want your site NAME to appear as your own, instead of Zen Cart. You can set the TITLE in /includes/languages/english/name_of_your_template_here/metatags.php by first copying the /includes/languages/english/metatags.php file to /includes/languages/english/name_of_your_template_here/metatags.php and making your edits there.
b) You blanked out the logo.gif from the /includes/languages/english/name_of_your_template_here/header.php file. This is causing a blank image to appear on your site. If you really don't want to make use of that for SEO purposes, then you should remove the logo output from your tpl_header.php instead. http://www.zen-cart.com/content.php?164-how-do-i-remove-the-logo-completely

Sounds like you introduced a syntax error while making your edits. Details will be in the debug logs, as kobra pointed out.

I'm a real newbie at this and have all of one day under my belt. I did manage to get a simple store set up and have sold a few products in the last couple hours. Real success, but as you can guess my store front is a mess and I need to do a deep dive and learn how to modify the templete. I did follow PletyJ instructions in this thread and same results as above. Found the file, edited to change my sales message, saved the file, and waited a couple hours and no change on the web site. Hopefully I'm not going to get frustrated and blow this this up. I'm also not fully understanding file uploads to the server as I'm using go daddy host for this zen cart app so that cojld be the issue.
